Mouth ulcers. Does anyone have anything other than magic mouthwash as a way of not getting them?

And when did you first get ulcers from Ibrance?

How about neuropathy/numb toes? Any help with that?

I didn’t get oral ulcers but had a sore mouth for a while. It went away. I have a tiny bit of neuropathy from IV chemo from 4 years ago but nothing I’ve noticed since starting Ibrance.

Hi. I had real bad neuropathy. I couldn’t feel my feet. I took lions mane mushrooms 2 caps twice a day and took vit b12, folic acid, 980mg omega3 fish oil, b6, and vit d 5000u everyday. Within 2 months I got 80 to 90 of my feeling back. I thank God for that nutritional support and the mushrooms that allowed me to heal

When I had chemo, I used a homemade rise with baking soda and water. Since I had fatigue and forgot to do it each time after a meal, I would use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash and they were gone the next day. Not use if this is recommended by doctors. It was simply the hydrogen peroxide you buy at the drug store or grocery store. It’s arouns a dollar per bottle. You should only need one bottle.

My foot neuropathy was really bad during chemo. I went to physical Theraphy several times per week and used hydrogen peroxide. I put two bottles of hydrogen peroxide in a plastic shoe box and soaked it for a hour or so a couple times per week. It did not totally go away but it got significantly better.

I hope that one of these home remedies works for you. Praying for you.

Again, lots of baking soda washes. I can feel a bump that will be a blister, and then a sore, but the frequent washes make them settle out before they pop. But it’s over a period of days, so you have to stay on top of it.

I also use mushrooms. In a tincture. Not for mouth ulcers but for immune booster. Shiitake mushrooms are supposed to be very good. I do feel better on a good daily vitamin, omega fish oil, a probiotic. I take cbd oil but not a lot. Would live to find a naturopathic doctor. I keep pushing juicing. It works! I think it is the reason I went the full round of Abraxane that most people can’t tolerate bec of neuropathy. Cants hurt. Just a lot of prep. Kris Carr is going to have a 21 day program that is all vegan all veggies. It takes a lot of effort and time but thinking of trying it again. I gave up first time because of the prep it requires. I am falling into some sloppy habits but that’s another post.

Hi blms. I had no mouth sores while receiving 4 months of chemo. Neuropathy was painful and gradually cleared up after being off of chemo for a year.

With Ibrance, by the end of first cycle I had mouth blisters and was vomiting. I was doing the baking soda/salt mouth rinse twice a day, but still got the blisters. Dr took me off 125mg and put me on 100mg. Was fine for 3 months, no pain, nausea or blisters until the end of 3rd cycle...day 17. Mouth and tongue painful blisters. Dr changed Ibrance to 75mg. I start that in 4 days.

I was not religious about doing the baking soda/salt rinse. Learned my lesson. I am diligent in doing the mouthwash now..3 times a day.

Also, on this blog, it was suggested to take Lysine capsules and to put lysine powder directly on the sores. That helped very much. I now take a Lysine capsules morning and evening with meals.

The magic mouthwash only numbs your mouth , it does nothing to get rid of them. The lysine is an Amino acid that is helpful in keeping mouth and lip tissue healthy.

I know this is getting too long, but one more thing I do...I rub gentamicine on the blister ( which soothes the sore), then put the Lysine powder on the sore. The gentamicine keeps the powder on till it dissolves. Very helpful.

Best wishes to all on this journey.

I didn't have mouth ulcers but did have cold sores inside my nostril. The local pharmacist suggested an OTC cream called Abreva. It comes in a tiny tube and I think it cost around $15 but I ended up needing less than a tiny amount of it. I only got the sores during the first and third month (cycle) I was on it and then not again. I was only on it for ten cycles and developed a lung condition called Interstitial lung disease that I suspect was caused by the Ibrance. I've had mbc for over 14 years, way before several of the meds available now and have done well on hormonal treatment alone. And bone meds (Zometa, and now Xgeva). I'm pretty tired most of the time, but have enough energy to shower and dress and walk the dogs every day, do the grocery shopping and laundry and a little bit of housework and some cooking. I am no where near as active as I was when I was younger and before cancer. But so far no pain from cancer so I feel really lucky.

I remember an earlier post that avocado helps mouth sores. As soon as the trial mouth rinse I use is approved by the FDA, i’ll Post it. It’s very effective.

Talking about eating avocados? If so, I'm covered! I make a Steven Gundry green drink every morning and eat some in addition.

I wish people knew that if they kept ice on their hands n feet during chemo they wouldn't have neuropathy. I was blessed to have others before me tell me this and never had this . Also rinsed after every meal with baking soda n water n used a soft tooth brush . Hope things get better

Sister Hort09 This sounds like a similar method where , Research Dr.s placed an ice cold apparatus on the heads of patients while their I.V. chemotherapy treatment was being administered. I saw this on a documentary a couple of years ago, and it was proven to stop hair loss in those in this particular study. Imagine no woman having to lose her crown/mane, but more importantly imagine a world where no woman would have to lose her life due to cancer. When and where did you find this information about the ice cold treatment of hands and feet, while the patient is being administered I.V. Chemotherapy that would prevent neuropathy ? These probably pennies on the dollar, and natural methods could make a world of difference in giving survivors more joy in their lives, as we wait for a cure. Thank you for this each one teach one information. God bless you and all of our sisters/Warriors who are waiting for a cure not in the year 2020, but yesterday ! ! !

Wow 10 years of warriors who have been suffered mainly with numbness, and pain

combinations in their hands and feet could have been avoided. I am hearing about

studies on croyo-therapy, where they are studying killing cancer cells by freezing

them. This would be a better method than radiation. Again thank-you my

sister/warrior.God bless you.

Thanks for the baking soda idea and salt reminder. I like the hydrogen peroxide idea for my feet but kinda scares me for my mouth.

I am a huge mushroom person and eat various kinds every day plus get a mushroom-based drink from my Chinese doc that I take twice daily. Try trumpet mushrooms, if you can get them, as they are notorious for boosting the immune system.

I was very fortunate during IV chemo back in the day that I did not get any neuropathy as so many of my friends had permanent problems with that. The strange thing is that I just have numbness not any pain or shooting pain. So I wonder if it is just a part of my back that is out. I have had some nasty back problems for over 40 years so that would not be a surprise. I guess I will find out next week with my bone scan.

Those of you that take meds for you bones, what is it you take? Is it a shot or pill, how often and side effects?

You ladies are the BEST!!

Baking soda and water or salt and water are the best for mouth ulcers. The magic mouthwash helped some but I found the baking soda and water the most effective. I was told no harsh mouthwash or toothpaste as it makes it worse. You should also have it checked as you could have thrush (which I had ) and was given a prescription rinse that cleared it up.
