Mouth sores
Call your dr. They have a special mouth wash for that. Don't live with any side effects. They have meds for most so we don't have to go through extra discomfort !
I get them occasionally. I’ve been in Ibrance since April. Use mouthwash with peroxide. It clears it up.
I’m on xgeva and my mouth is always messed up. I have to watch what I eat or drink because it burns my mouth. The dr gave me some mouth medicine but it doesn’t help me to much
Don’t know why, but some months I get them other months I don’t. I do use a mouthwash with peroxide and it seems to help. I agree, they’re not fun.
I don't know about Ibrance but I do know about mouth sores and they are miserable! Ask your oncologist for a prescription for Magic Mouthwash. It is a swish and spit that will numb your mouth for about a half-hour. Also, I keep in my purse a tube of Orajel and a zip lock baggie of q-tips (to apply the Orajel), it gives me instant relief.
I’ve been on ibrance since January and I get mouth sores. I used to get them really bad but now I do watch what I eat. No spicy food, no sodium, no citrusy things and this helps me. I also use Magic Mouthwash that your dr can prescribe and I use Canker Rid (Amazon). It’s about $20 but it works. It’s made from bee pollen. It really burns sometimes depending on where your sores are in your mouth but for me it’s worth it. Hope you figure out something!!
Thanks you guys for your inputs. What fun all of this is. Hugs to all of you!
I did not get mouth sores while on Ibrance but I did get cold sores on the edges of my nostrils. The pharmacist directed me to Abreva, an OTC cream in a tiny tube and it helped alot. I got these three of the first four cycles I was on Ibrance and then they stopped. Don't know if it would be the same for mouth sores...... I could tolerate Ibrance for only 10 cycles and then became out of breath with mild exertion, was referred to a pulmonologist and diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. It is now a year later, off Ibrance during this year, and the ILS seems to be stable. ILD is not listed as a possible side effect of Ibrance but I suspect there is a relationship and not just coincidence that it developed while on Ibrance. It is still a very new drug.......
Hi, I am sorry to hear about this. I am on I and Letrozole, now for a little more that 1 year. The first few months I had the same thing, but now very rarely. Your Doc should have some mouth wash that helps greatly, until then do a baking soda/salt in water rinse. Keep hydrated and my very best to you. This treatment is know to work for many people.
I had bad mouth sores w IV chemo, not as bad w ibrance and falsodex. What has worked better than anything else, use about 3 or 4 drops of frankenscense w small amount if water. Swish around and then swallow . Use a good quality oil like young living or doterra. Use every day
I too use the frankincense oil and just rub it right on the sore area. I also but it on my feet and the tumor responsible for the cancer developing into bone mets. Had full mastectomy/Radiation and eventually an implant put in there. When I would get annual mammograms of the remaining breast I would always ask why nobody ever looks at the implant side and was always told “oh nothing can grow there”. BS. Sorry-I got sidetracked-since they don’t do unnecessary surgeries on stage 4 patients my onc leaves it to the drugs to starve the tumor to death. I feel confident the frankincense has also helped to shrink that baby away to almost nothing 👍. Love my oils. I use doterra
I regularly eat chia seed. It is known to help with mucous membrane issues. I never had mouth sores when taking IV chemo in 2010. Ive only had one or two until now while taking Ibrance. I eat it daily in smoothies now. About 2 T.
Mine has never gotten better. The dr gives me a mouth rinse that helps
