Lung nodules.

Has anyone with Mets to lung been told that not all nodules are cancer? My oncologist told me when my cat showed a new 5mm spot. When they did biopsy just showed plural effusion was cancer. My oncologist is well known in the South from Atlanta. I don’t think he would have said that if not true. What I don’t understand is I would think that all would be cancer. I had a ton of radiation to breast 18 years ago. The first scan said nodules did not look cancerous because they were shaped differently. That was a year ago. Pet lit up but also lit up in breast and it’s not cancer just scar tissue from lumpectomy 17 years and reduction 2 years ago. So thanks for anyone with insight.

My coworker had 2 nodules on lungs that were not cancer. She was diagnosed 2 years ago including mets to brain.

I also had suspicious scar tissue in radiation that was cleared.

Yeah I’m praying they are just scar tissue. The original radiologist said they didn’t look like Mets but because of my history with breast cancer I should watch. I’m not saying I don’t have it in lung but as of last cat scans everything in lung was okay, except for fluid was cancer. All bones intact, ribs normal. I have 5 places in spine, shoulder small spot. I was wondering how your doing with going through menopause? My Nana was 66 and still had a period. I had a hysterectomy at 37 in the 90’s, no 66 for me. She lived till 98 with no major issues. I hope your doing good, but you seem to handle things really well.

Yes. Turns out the same is true that some nodules are cancer. With a cancer history they should be watching any nodule carefully. May I ask who found them your oncologist or other doc?

I had a Pet scan and the nodules where found. The radiologist said that the nodules did not have the shape of cancer. They had to take biopsy from fluid in lung came back Her2 Negative. They stayed the same for 5 months without treatment, then shrunk some but I had scar tissue on my wrist shrink when getting chemo. So maybe some are and some scar. Doesn’t really matter they will treat you the same because it’s stage 4.

Sure, semi lunar in shape not round. I had no change in 7 months. Then I started Chemo and they shrunk or stayed the same. However I do have plural fluid which is cancer. Mine is in rt lung so far left is clear. Does your Mom have or had cancer. It’s been 17 years since I had stage 2.breast cancer came back last year. Also in my spine, arms and liver cleared up for now. I hope your Mom is okay. Please let me know what else the cat reads? I’m only a Nurse but can read scans for cancer. I however would like to know what his impression was? Thanks

Hi. This is what the report say: there are multiple new lung nodules in the apical segment of right upper lube, apicoposterior Ana lingular segment of left upper lobe, superior, posterior and mediobasal segment of right lower lobe, apical, posterobasal and laterobasalof left lower lobe. The largest is seen at posterobasal of right lower lobe measuring 1.3x1.3cm. My mom diagnosed BC 4 years ago and local recurrence last year. Thanks

Mostly just indicating where the nodules are and size. They are medium in size. Does it say anything in final Impression?

Yeah I’m sorry! He’s saying that the cancer continues to spread and it’s cancer mets in lung. What type of breast cancer is she? Like I’m Her2 Negative.

I have lesions in the liver and tumors in my spine, they also noted a couple spots in my lung, bu I am told they are not necessarily cancer. Ibrance and Faslodex treat the whole system, so not to worry about the lung.

The Ibrance should help your liver and spine. The Doxil cleared up my liver for now. I have 3 spots on spine and both humorous bones. My one lung has the most spots and fluid. So see what he comes up with in September, Faslodex is making me feel better. My weight is back to normal and blood work is great. I wish you continued good news.
