Faslodex and weight gain?

Clair19 profile image
18 Replies

Another question? I would like to know if anyone on Faslodex has gained weight? I gained 2 pounds and was reading Faslodex causes weight gain. I’m not worried about a few pounds but some said 20 pounds... I know I have gotten older but don’t need extra weight to slow me down more. I know that’s a small price to pay for killing cancer but hopefully these women had weight problems. I always freak out with new drugs and my oncologist knows this. So just bare with my crazy self and I appreciate all of you who read my rambling posts!😋

I have been on Faslodex and Ibrance for three months. My weight has stayed the same. Don't blame you, we are going through enough without worrying about our weight.

Good to hear, well some said water weight, so I was confused on what kind of weight they where talking about. If I gained a few I don’t care. I stay around 124-126. Was overweight at 137 according to my oncologist.

Hi Clair. Since last June I gained four pounds and I hate it!!! I don’t know if it can be contributed to the meds though. I am not working full time anymore and sometimes feel down and just grab the wrong thing to eat. Summer is coming and will start to be more active and hopefully that will help.

That’s not much. I figured if my weight goes up I’m not doing so bad. It’s okay just not water weight.

Overall, I’ve lost 3-4 lbs since January. But I do have a couple weeks where I’m down another 3 (so a total of 6-8) and another where I go up 2-3 (so still down from January).

I was like 150 in January..get as low as 141.9 and up to 146.8 throughout the month.

All together I have lost 20 pounds. I lost 10 in the beginning without knowing I was sick, but was working out like a crazy person. Then strong Chemo made me feel so bad I couldn’t eat. So if I stay around 125, I’m short at 5ft2. I always was tiny like 105. So this is what I should weigh at my age. I think.

I am 5’9. I’m looking forward to developing a good summer routine. I’m currently in AZ but relocating to PA in July. ❤️

Yes I remember you travel quite a bit. Wow I always wanted to be tall. My son is 6ft.2 I look so short next to him. Did you play basketball? Good luck with your move it will be so much easier not to travel for work. Atlanta airport sucks big time. When we come land to any airport it seems so small. It just seems to get bigger, or I have just slowed down.😁

No to basketball...did some track and volleyball but not since high school. Atlanta airport is a beast! I do my best to avoid it as a connection. And I’ve got to plan 3 hrs time if I travel from there with the airport. But I did enjoy Atlanta — charming and it was super humid. But I don’t mind being warm but the hairstyle was hilarious!

I can not imagine having to fly to work or doctors. My town of Bayonne is 56 blocks long and about 7 blocks wide. I live on 45th st and my job was on 12th st. I could walk to work. From Bayonne to UMD&J cancer center my drive is about 15 min. Glad since I go twice a month now once for the doctor and once forinjections. I bet you will be glad to be closer to work. And is your doctor there also?

My drs are in Philadelphia at Fox Chase. Once I’m relocated, it’s about 45 min drive. I grew up in Union, NJ. I got 3 opinions when I was first diagnosed 2 yrs ago w stage 2. AZ, Allentown PA and Philadelphia. I felt best w fix Chase. I like them but may explore UPenn as they have had some awesome media coverage of reversing some cancers recently.

Either way, I follow all the cancer centers in NJ, PA and MD. Just waiting for the MBC breakthrough! I think it’s coming soon!

When you go for second opinion do you need to bring all of your records?

Early on, I shared all the pathology reports and initial scans. True my file is pretty thick now. But I can easily request and access like 99% of it. Since the stage 4 dx, I haven’t done a second opinion yet. I agreed w the approach and felt the dr was optimistic. But we will see how the first scan goes w Ibrance.

Yes you can’t have many good hair days here with 100% humidity. What we do when flying from Atlanta is stay at a hotel and leave our car there and take shuttle from hotel. We only live like 40 min from airport however traffic is so bad. Our flight leaves at 10am so we are like 5 min away, don’t have to get up so early and free to leave car at hotel. I know you will be glad for no more flying so much. I’m sorry it took me so long to respond, I was so busy last few days getting ready for this trip. I’m at the age where I don’t like shopping much so takes forever. 🤗

I have put on weight with Ibrance and Letrozole. My tummy has really expanded. I find I’m retaining fluids also.

Yes I find that also. I was just put on meds for high blood pressure and suspect the cancer meds are causing that.
