Faslodex and Xgeva Part II

Hi 🌺 I wish everyone is wonderfully well 🌺🎀

In the previous post I asked how to face the high costs of faslodex and xgeva injections. My insurance does not cover these medicines and I can no longer afford the high costs. Following the advice I made the application on the Faslodex website. Now what should I do ??? Should I take this application to the hospital pharmacy?

With the issue of coupons I don't know what to do. Print one but does not say amount What do I do with this ???

Ask at the nearest Walgreens pharmacy and they can't do anything with these medicines.

Try the GoodRx app and it says: price with coupon 2350 $ This is the price I must pay ??? I cannot afford this price I have BCBS Tx insurance but it does not cover these medicines. I must also say that I don't know the medical system well. And for this reason last year I paid $ 7,000 since I was diagnosed. Now in July I have another $ 7,000 in hospital bills. and just when I thought the out of pocket was covered it turns out that Faslodex and Xgeva are not covered by insurance (situation that I DIDN'T even know or the hospital has never told me) I found out why I was reviewing the insurance page.

My plan tomorrow is to go to the hospital pharmacy. But I don't know who I should talk to or what to do

Sorry for the writing. But I need help. This is a lot of anguish for me

Thank you for supporting me in this post.

The best thing I can recommend is that you talk to your oncologist or their office. My oncology office has a person who just works with patients to get their costs covered. They have information about organizations that help with expenses and know how to get grants and copays from pharmacies. They might be able to convince your insurance to cover the costs.

I’m in Canada so things are different here but I believe that some drug companies offer help with important drugs. Your oncologist should have all of this info as they were willing to help me if my insurance did not cover Ibrance

Hi Sarcie Do you know of any test trials for Piqray in Canada . I can't seem to find out this information

in reply toShelby4now

No. I’m not aware of any. I was screened for a trial if and when my Ibrance stops working but I wasn’t told what it was for.

Ask your oncologist or his secretary to help you find programs where you can enroll and get cheaper price for the medicines. In the Philippines, I am in such a program and I pay around US$480 for 2 vials of Faslodex. Each country has a different program though but your oncologist’s office should know.

Hi,

Do you have a copy of the bill for the last treatment? There should be a phone number on it to call. generally there is a spot on the back of the bill to fill in insurance info.

The coupon goes to whoever is billing for the drug. It will have a "BIN # GRP# and ID#" that they will need as well as where they should send the bill on the coupon card.

These coupons kind of act like a second insurance. Once they get the response from your insurance they submit to the coupon.

Talk to your centers social worker they should help u with finding help with costs...also Zometa is the same as XGeva and is significantly less cost. XGeva is $5600 per shot...Zometa is IV and $280 for the drug and about $800 for infusion room...the difference in effectiveness between 1 and 3 months is less than 1%. So go with 3 months and see if they can get u Zometa at a much cheaper cost. XGeva is new but it should be covered! Especially if your Onc ordered it...I’m not familiar with Faslodex but again if your doctor ordered it it should be covered...😀

You should not have to struggle with this issue. Speak with your onc or a social worker who can help you. Most hospitals have programs or know of programs that can help with treatment costs!

I was on Xgeva but started having jaw problems. Also had some gum problems with pain. Oncologist said I could no longer take it. He told me if I walk one mile per day it's as good as taking the Xgeva. If this is true why don't they tell us that up front. The money we could save. Also my Oncologist has a financial person. She filled out paperwork and sent it with copies of our tax returns. Because we made less than a certain amount the companies that manufacture Afinitor and Aromasin send it to me absolutely free.

Ohhhh. Nice 🌺

There are organizations that have grants. I was appointed a social worker who got in contact with me. They have been wonderful!
