For joint pain I take chondriten glucosamine with MSm. It has to also contain the MSM to work. It is the letrozole for me that causes the pain. No weight loss just gain for me. I take 5000 MG vitamin d3 a day.

Hi Andrea,

I've lost weight too while on different drugs. I think I'm ok now, in the normal weight range. I used to be overweight by about 20 lbs. I'm down over 20 lbs but that's not bad. My appetite is good and I take vitamin supplements.

I went to the Health Food Store and bought a whole food multi-vitamin, B-Complex, 1,000 mgs of extra Vit C, Calcium for my bones, and just recently I bought a bottle of Iron capsules because I'm anemic too but not overly anemic.

My doctor said to eat enough protein, green vegetables, and he mentioned the iron factor. So that's why I'm taking that too. Iron tablets can be constipating though, so I might take 1 every other day.

How much weight have you lost? Are you underweight according to the BMI chart? How is your appetite?

For me, at one point, my appetite was terrible. That's when I lost all the weight. Changing drugs helped, but it's taken a long time to regain some of the weight. My Oncologist said that much of our calories are being used to fight the cancer.

Someone suggested that I drink Premium Protein drinks in between my meals or if I just don't feel like eating. This drink is better than Ensure and Boost because it has 30 grams of Protein and ONLY 1 gram of sugar! That's the best part. Too much sugar is NOT good for cancer patients.

You can buy the Premium Protein drink at Walgreen s or Coscos, other places, or on-line. It comes in a 4- pack. Flavors are vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and strawberry. I could only find the vanilla and chocolate. I pour it over ice. 160 calories. This drink may help you to slowly add calories to your diet. It's a little pricey, but it!s worth it.

Also, try to eat healthy snacks throughout the day, Maybe a granola bar, half a peanut butter sandwich, fruit, etc. just to get extra calories into your body.

You have to do your best to find out the foods that will help you the most and be healthy for you. That's why I went to the Health Food Store. They had lots of good suggestions. I did see a nutritionist at my Cancer Center, but she was recommending sugary food and drinks like Carnation Instantt Breakfast, and it seemed that I knew more about nutrition than she did! Lol!

Good luck! Keep those calories coming! Kats3

Thanks so much Kats3, I don't live in the US but in Argentina, which sometimes makes it harder to find all the vitamins and supplements and goodies that you have access to so easily, anyhow I appreciate your concern, time and effort to reply to my request, I' ll see what I can find from your suggestions, thanks again and keep well!
