What is you dose of nitrate ? (various brand names such as monomil). You won't stop it without this.

Are you sure it's angina?

One test my GP suggested for me was to use a nitroglycerin spray. If the pain goes away then it was likely to be angina. If the pain remains then it is not angina.

Improving the production of Nitric Oxide in your arteries will help. Try NO promoting foods in the evening such as a smoothie made from beetroot, rocket, pomegranite juice and maybe a bit of fruit to mask the bitterness of the rocket. You could also try a few dabs of Cayenne pepper under the tongue or try gargling with Cayenne in water, yes its hot but the quick absorbtion through the mouth will open up the arteries.

Hi, I read your post with great interest. Nocturnal angina is unequivocally in many cases related to obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, or mixed apnea. You may be otherwise healthy, but genitically predisposed. Apnea will cause all sorts of havoc with your heart and cardiopulmonary function. No amount of vasodilator dilators will help. If I were you, I would explore this possibility and maybe request a sleep study to exclude or confirm sleep apnea. You will not be aware of apnea when asleep. Many early morning heart attacks are the result of obstructive sleep apnea. It's now a hot topic in cardiology. Good luck, how this helps. James
