hi, my husband had a heart attack three days ago and I’m struggling with giving him a heart healthy diet when it comes to snacks, something he was prone to doing prior. I’m pretty well set on the meal foods for him, it’s just snack time is a bit frustrating and confusing. Any advice would help. Thanks

Heart Attack food advice
check out the British Heart foundation website , plenty of nutrition advice. I’d your husband overweight? Is he active/mobile ? What’s his lifestyle like? There will be a lot to take in as it is so recent, your medical team should give you plenty of advice regarding lifestyle changes. What heart attack was he treated for? Nstemi , stemi , cardiac arrest ? What treatment , stents , medication only , bypass surgery . I’m sure you are both in a state of shock Mimi, I know I represent everyone on this forum in wishing you the best outcome and your husband a speedy, comfortable recovery. ❤️🩹 I had Nstemi heart attack and quadruple bypass July 2023, loving my rebirth and the job I have to do is keep my new pipes clear . I became food police post surgery and made a few tweaks to my nutrition. Making my own breads to cut out sugar and hugely reduce salt for example. Following a Mediterranean type diet too.
Thank you for your post, I hope`your husband is recovering well. Eating the right diet can help lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, help control weight and reduce the risk of other conditions such as diabetes. Dehydration can also be a major contributory factor to symptoms, so keeping hydrated is essential.
