Why can farmed fish trigger Restless Legs ?

I find that farmed fish, in my case salmon and sea bream, can trigger my RLS

Does anyone else have this problem?

Why should this be the case.?

I have found one source which suggests lack of astaxanthin might be the answer

Astaxanthin is apparently the most abundant carotenoid in the marine world, even though it cannot be synthesized by animals. It comes from fish eating algae.

In fish farms the fish cannot eat algae

Astaxanthin strengthens and solidifies the nervous system and therefore helps RLS

So farmed fish dont have this astaxanthin.

So they might trigger RLS?

Does this make sense?

Thank you for your help

No because other things you eat don't have astaxanthin.

You should never eat farmed fish, if possible. IMO.

Quite possibly a gluten connection. Farmed fish are often fed grains such as corn, as well as soy, and possibly genetically modified corn at that, along with growth hormones. Any or all might be giving you problems. I am totally grain free and cannot eat farmed fish, just flash frozen wild caught (once in a while, due to histamine issues). My RLS resolved when I went gluten free and got my vitamin levels more reasonable. Good luck pinning it down.
