Intravenous Iron, oxidative stress and vitamin E and selenium

I have been reading about the possibility that some people may experience oxidative stress with intravenous iron therapy. I thought this article was interesting as it states that vitamin E and selenium are powerful antioxidants that can somewhat mitigate this problem. I would not suggest synthetic vitamin E.

Vitamin E and selenium are effective body antioxidants that prevent free-radical formation and halt the damaging free-radical chain reaction once it begins [7–10]. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of vitamin E and selenium supplementation on reducing the OxS in HD patients receiving intra-dialysis iron infusion.

As all medications have side effects we dont want people to hold off of iron (because of the worry about complications) if it works for them. Better to take Vit E/ selenium before your infusion, if not on already.
