Well I hope it is for some of you. I've been down all the various medication routes and magnesium cream and jels and nothing still the same getting worse by the week. Until someone suggested what worked for them and it's worked for me, I'll also add I've suffered with constipation for decades and nothing helped except this as well.... Well the miracle cure for me (twice a day) is magnesium glycinate. I didn't know there were different types of magnesium, I failed chemistry so I thought there was just 1 type, nope and this is amazing, I get the powder and mix it with milk and drink x 2 a day and while I take it I don't get any signs and I can toilet every day.. So worth a try to you all who have tried so many remidies.

Thank you.

BTW-- where did you learn about this?
All the best.
Magnesium glycinate is widely recommended to help RLS, particularly in the US where it seems to be more readily available retail. But the interesting thing is that a reported advantage of Mg glycinate over other forms of oral magnesium is that it supposedly has *less* of a laxative effect.
I had the same experience - of a revelatory recommendation which helped my RLS immediately. Here (in the UK, can't see where you are) health food shops tend to recommend the more readily retail available magnesium citrate: this works very well for my RLS, but it undoubtedly has a laxative effect if too much is taken at one time. But I'd certainly try glycinate if the shops and pharmacies in my home town stocked it
I agree that e.g magnesium oxide, even more commonly available, is not absorbable enough to help with RLS. And I also tried magnesium oil etc to no effect, but know that some find them effective
I was on magnesium citrate for six months which was brilliant until it wore off.We are flying to the US on Monday so maybe I should buy some glycinate.
Why not?
Although I've never found that citrate has worn off for me, and I've been taking it for 10 years or more.
However, I've found that the effect of magnesium was - and can still be - 'overwhelmed' by certain things: statins, caffeine, sugar, chocolate, aspartame (which I even found in something I was given to regulate my colon, as well as diet drinks) would all make it appear that the magnesium had stopped helping. You may have other med or food triggers... I cut back on mine and my symptoms went away again as long as I take 200mg of citrate each day.
Book your flight for early in the day and book an aisle seat so you can get up and walk around and preferably an emergency exit or bulkhead. Although I may be too late to advise you on this. Pack activities that serve as distractions. If you belong to the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation, download the Restless Legs Syndrome Special Accommodations Card to give to the flight attendant. You can join for $40 even if you don't live in the US and it is well worth it. RLS-UK also has a medical alert card available to members for things like flights. Otherwise be sure to talk to the flight attendant and explain that you will be walking a lot. And you may need to increase your oxycodone temporarily to help.
Thanks so much for all that help Sue.Yes we always try & book an aisle seat & spend out for extra leg room.
I usually tell the person next to me (if not my husband) that I have RLS.
I am a member of RLS & do have the card.
But this time we have to get to Idaho instead of NYC but have to change in Chicago if I need to run about.
I find watching the films helps.

That's great. So pleased for you.
Are there any negative effects? Can only see the tablet form here in UK, of varying strengths, any ideas about tablet dose?
hi I’ve found a powder firm on Amazon - how much do you take with each dose? Thanks
hi I’ve just purchased some magnesium glycinate after seeing your post how London you think you have to take them before you see an improvement The info on the carton says three times a day the tablets are very big and take some swollowing !
I take it twice a day unless I forget, but if I forget at night I'm not long before I'm out of bed and down stairs mixing it with half a glass of cold Milk.
