I chose a well educated PhD acupuncturist who came highly recommended for RLS. First session was to treat blood flow and liver cleansing (she suspected my RLS could be from lack of blood flow although not sure why she suspected this since I have no known medical reasons.) Second and third treatment was for lower back (I have osteoarthritis). Fourth treatment was still lower back along with cupping of my left glut/buttock muscle since this is one area that has bothered me nightly.. (calfs and hamstrings bother me nightly as well) I was given natural herbs to aid in blood flow and liver cleansing along with the needle acupuncture.
I have had great results for 3 weeks now from the cupping of the left glut/buttock muscle .. not one twitch, one creepy jumping sensation since then.
However, I had her cup my L and R calfs and my L and R hamstrings hoping I'd have the same great miraculous results but unfortunately not so. I can't say that I've noticed any decrease in frequency or intensity in any of these areas with accupunture treatments.. cost for 5 treatments $480.00
I hope this gives some of you insight before you decide to spend the $$$. My mindset was that I was willing to spend the money to rule it out as an alternative treatment if indeed it did nothing for me as was the case.

Thanks for posting the information. A lot of people do ask about acupuncture as a treatment and it will be interesting for them I did try it too many years ago but with worse than no positive effect, It actually exacerbated the RL symptoms and I was in agony during the treatment. I didn't/couldn't go back.
As with all thing to do with this terrible syndrome, we all respond so differently that I would probably try it if I was desperate enough and was still trying to find the perfect treatment. I had great success with acupuncture for carpel tunnel syndrome so know 'magic' can happen! Sadly, not with RLS.
Now, thanks to Shumba I am on buprenorphine and have almost 90 - 100% coverage so life is looking a lot better than it did.
So glad you have found relief; I appreciate everyone's feedback to various things tried and realize it is up to each of us to do our own research however, reading what has and hasn't worked for others is very helpful to me!
Absolutely. It helps especially with the 'alternative solutions' and whether it's likely to help or whether it's just wishful thinking. Even though I have found my own solution to the puzzle, you can see that I'm still on the forum and not resting on my laurels... I would still love to find something that helps permanently and completely (wishful thinking???) and I find everyone's experience adds to my own knowledge. Thankyou.
