Has anyone who suffers from restless legs heard of or has tried a product called a “weighted blanket”? If so any information would be greatly received.

Hi yes I spent nearly £100 on one a few years ago ,it was extremely heavy ! Unfortunately it didn't help my restless legs at all so I sold it on ebay to a lady who wanted one for her adult daughter who has autism-she found it extremely useful. You could try making your own using a normal sheet /duvet cover /blanket and sewing on pockets Fill the pockets with dry rice and sew up. This is an easy and cheaper way to try one out and you can adjust the weight by adding extra pockets if needed. Worth a go but for me it was a fail

Thanks for your reply, think I’ll give it a miss.

I have one. I love it but no, it didn't prevent my RLS, but it may have made it less painful. Not sure, still experimenting.

My husband gave me one for Christmas last year. I tried it once, but the weight of it did nothing for my legs and made me feel claustrophobic. Luckily, we were able to return it and get the money back.

Hi,I tried the blanket but found it uncomfortably heavy and made me feel claustrophobic, did nothing to help my RLS.would probably be useful for other problems but not for RLS.

I wasted about a hundred bucks on one. The novelty of it was kinda cool, but after a couple of weeks I folded it up and put it in a drawer. Now all it does is grow old. Didn't help my RLS symptoms a lick.

If we all made a list of sundries and devices that we tried but didn't work, it would make a fat book.

Thanks for saving me a few pounds.

My doctor uses a weighted blanket for her rls and she finds it helpful, though her symptoms are not as severe as mine.

Also tried one and no result. Felt hot, heavy and claustrophobic with no improvement in RLS, sent it back.

I love my weighted blanket (which - from the accounts above - is not as heavy as some) but I can categorically confirm that it does nothing to improve the symptoms of RLS. Insofar as some producers of weighted blankets claim that they can assist with RLS, this has to be false advertising.

Hello. I have one and I like it. I’m not sure if it helps, but I have movement throughout my whole body and it seems to help a bit. I’ve been trying compression long socks lately and they seem to help some nights, and make things worse others. Such a strange ailment. I find that pressing the arches of my feet hard against my bed frame helps quite a bit as well. A really hot shower directed at my legs helps too. Good luck!

I’m 77 from USA and I’ve used a weighted blanket for three years now. It works well until summer when it’s just to hot to have on.
