Hello all. Being disabled with many things wrong with me I've also suffered with RLS all my life. I'm 51 now. A few months ago it started to get really bad to the point of sleeping 1 to 2 hours sleep a night. I have tried many things over the years but not from the doctor. I finally spoke to him about it. I am already on the highest dose possible of Gabapentin and Oxycodone Hydrochloride for 2 types of severe arthritis. He prescribed me Methocarbamol which helped me to sleep but did not help so much with the crazy legs. A neighbour told me to try Floradix, which is a liquid iron and vitamin syrup which is available in supermarkets etc. I've been borderline anaemic most of my life. After taking this for 3 weeks now dare I say it but have slept relatively well the last 3 nights. Whether this is coincidence or not I don't know but I am sleeping better. I live in the UK. I hope this may help others. Thank you for reading ☺❤ xx
Floradix: Hello all. Being disabled... - Restless Legs Syn...
Floradix
Two points. If the fizzies have suddenly got worse at a particular time, then there is certainly a triggering going on. Something changed in your diet or medications around that time.
Secondly- if Floradix has helped, then you may be one of the lucky ones who are affected by low iron. Could you get a blood test- iron panel, and find out the serum ferritin level and trans %.
If the ferritin is below 75, then ask about an iron transfusion, as long as your other maladies allow.
Let us know how you get on with all that.
The oxycodone and Gabapentin should have relieved any possible RLS.
Good luck.
Firstly iron deficiency in the brain is a known cause of RLS, so Floradix might well be helping you. Secondly you can get the same formulation as Floradix tablets, check Amazon for a subscribe and save offer. I get the tablets delivered every 6 weeks automatically, with Amazon letting me know when they are about to be dispatched. I find the tablets handier that the liquid, especially if I am going to be away from home.
