RLS. I still think about you when you're gone.

I have severe RLS but am lucky to have medicine that works for the most part. At its best I have no symptoms. The odd part is I still think about my legs almost just as much when they are fine. I guess I always hoped that when the symptoms were absent I wouldn't even think twice about my legs or pay them anymore attention than I would to my earlobes for example. But I do. My legs are fine, but my brain still wants to include them as usual into my nightine routine. So I often dont get to sleep any faster. Hopefully the rest of you aren't as neurotic as I and thouroughly get to enjoy the good times.

I don’t think you’re neurotic, but what you might be getting is an almost undetectable sensation in your legs that alerts the brain and draws attention to them, even tho they are relaxed. I have had this on many occasions and I describe it as a sort of “waiting”. This is a definitely different compared to when RLS is completely absent . In my case RLS will invariably start following this sensation but in your case the medication is happily suppressing it and so sleep eventually comes. I often find a relaxing distraction technique like aromatherapy or music will help break the connection between my brain and my legs. All my best wishes for many happy hours of slumber! 😊

That’s really interesting. I often find myself rubbing my legs up to 20 mis before the unpleasant sensations start. And thought I was just anticipating the onset but your description makes perfect sense.

Ive just started Pregabalin after 20 years on Pramipexole, im waiting for it to “kick in” excuse the pun. I too sometimes get that anticipatory feeling, it keeps me awake anxious that an attack is imminent, its hit or miss.

I find this very interesting. I became aware of a slight, continuous tingling in my legs long before I developed rls. At the time I thought it was normal. This was in my late teens. I do remember thinking how could anyone, such as artists models, keep still for so long. I certainly couldn’t. Luckily I am so used to it that I am not aware of it unless I think about it.
