If you ask for buprenorphine it’s a flat out NO even in Australia they never even other the alternative.
However try only using the word TEMGESIC as it comes under a different classification because it is a microdose .
Professor Nutt said the same things months ago when I asked him about buprenorphine he said no it is not legal in the UK he never mentioned any
alternative . Then I worked this out with a friend who’s a doctor and everyone who has asked there GP for temgesic is getting a pack of 50 with repeats .
So I emailed Professor Nutt he said absolutely GPS in the UK can prescribe Temgesic but not Buprenorphine.
Go figure !

There is little sense in prescribing sometimes - I can get Targinact but if I asked for Oxycontin (which is the active ingredient in Targinact) I would be sent packing from the Drs.
I'm going to take the Drs side a little here. They are very often caught between a rock and a hard place - they know the patient wants/needs a particular drug. The Dr knows that even though their bloods are in the normal range they really need to be higher, but isn't allowed to prescribe the drug due to the APPARENTLY healthy blood results.
Really its often NICE and the media that play big roles in prescribing - Drs being afraid of being labelled monsters for prescribing opioids as someone abuses them and develops a problem and instead of taking personal responsibility they blame the Dr and go to the press OR NICE tell the Drs they are not allowed to prescribe.
SO - before we always take a shot at the Drs remember they are only a small part of a much larger problem.
I've just posted a request for information on Temgesic 200 to send on to my wife's consultant in the UK. The consultant asked for evidence to discuss with her colleagues. We requested Temgesic after seeing your earlier post (thank you very much) and wondered if you can help.
Send me your email address via private message and I will forward you my medical letters
Which mention that they use buprenorphine which is temgesic for refractory RLS
They are from Professor Richard Allen from John Hopkins , Professor John Winkleman and my Doctor in NYC .
I will also try to attract him some emails I ha e had from suffers in Africa, Japan and Australia telling how buprenorphine has saved there lives and given there life back .
This may take me a day or 2 as My husband has some cardiac appointments tomorrow. I will do it as soon as I can .

Hi there. Yes Your various posts make very interesting reading. I’ll send my email to you (when I work out how to). I’ve used your experiences in my letter to the doctor but I would love to follow it up with more evidence from other professionals and more examples of success stories. At some point they’ve got to give in in the UK!!
Thanks for your help. No rush
