Temgesic

Today my sleep specialist swapped me over to Temgesic(.2mg) assuring me it would last all night.He told me Temgesic is identical to Buprenorphine. Some members on this forum say that it only has a half life of 4-6 hours!( similar to Targin for me) .

I definitely feel different on the Temgesic - I seem to have more of a ‘hangover’ in the morning and feel very low - I wondered what the difference is re Temgesic which is also buprenorohine but I think is maybe more fast acting with a shorter half life. Has anyone got any information on this?

Switched to Temgesic 200mcg, but went into immediate withdrawal of my Dilaudid. Is this usual??? I am DESPERATE, please help!!!

So is anyone else experiencing problems getting Temgesic from their pharmacy? I don't think there is an equivalent in the UK as most other options are too strong. I really hope this is not a permanent problem.

My chemist is telling me they cannot dispense Buprenorphine nor Temgesic as there is a manufacturing problem. I have to ask my GP to prescribe something else. Does anyone else have a similar problem ?

I find Temgesic keeps my restless legs and nerve damage at a bearable level but I am continually in a drenching sweat.....does anyone else find this?, if so, do you have any suggestions how to help with this.......thanks

I have really poor circulation in my hands and cannot get them warm when they get cold but on reflection I believe the colour change may have started after commencing Temgesic - 200m - 250mcg (One and a quarter tablets). Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

He was definitely not going to try Temgesic as he knew it was practically impossible to get approved in Tasmania as Shumbah indicated.

Hi all, looking for some advice on how best to swap from weekly 10mg patch to temgesic tablets. My main query is do I just stop the patch and move to nightly dose? Will I suffer mini withdrawals not having any medication in my system all day? Have been on the patch for 12 mths.

Anyway Temgesic do their measurements in micrograms. So I am taking one sublingual 200mcg (equivalent to 0.2mg strength) a night. I am finding this (dissolves under the tongue like your Accord tablets) easy to use, so thanks, yet again, for your help.

Temgesic is NOT licensed in the UK for RLS, nor is Buprenorphine so there should be no reason for doctors to prescribe Temgesic over Buprenorphine. I attach relevant articles which might help you persuade your doctors to prescribe plain Buprenorphine over Temgesic.

The restless legs and nerve damage happened in 2022, I have been living with nightmare since then, only got given temgesic in March 2023 and that was for post op pain not restless legs or nerve pain. The pain specialists, neurologists would not listen to me.

Temgesic? The other issue is - what if my GP says that she is still unable to prescribe it under current guidelines - Will I have wasted the appointment? I look forward to receiving your comments.

However, although I stuck it out for a few months this was not a success and I am back on Temgesic. Temgesic dose lasts 6 - 8 hours at most whereas buprenorphine lasts approx. 23 - 25 hours.
