On my constant search for any kind of relief, I saw some articles about using the infrared light to help ease RLS symptoms. Has anyone had any luck using this. I do remember as a child having what was called growing pains and some kind of light which Im guessing was infrared did seem to help with the knee pains I had back then. So now 60 years later I have been seeing people post about trying it. I/d be interesting in hearing any success stories

Has anyone tried Near Infrared Light Therapy?
There has been brief mention of such a device before on this forum. However, I don't recall that anyone has ever said it worked.
As I understand it the modern device uses LEDS emitting radiation about 850nm wavelength.
This might be a modern version of infra red lamps that I recall being used for arthritis in the past.
The principle is possibly the same, i.e. penetrating heat. This may improve circulation in the area where it's applied. I'm not sure if it does anything else.
This might be of benefit in cases of RLS where poor circulation is a factor. Otherwise it's difficult to see how it can be of any benefit.
I note that commercially available devices are relatively expensive whereas you can buy a few hundred 850nm LEDS for a few £, €, $ etc.
Well here is rundown of possible benefits with Red Light Therapy, including helping with sleep... draxe.com/health/red-light-...
Thank you for the information. I am going to try it. Really nothing to lose as there appear to be no side effects. Who knows maybe it will even help with all my arthritis issues and if it even slightly decreases my RLS torment so much the better. I will let you all know how or if it works. My life mission is to get some relief from this maddening disorder
I tried it, minimal results. Sorry.
I recall reading a study of a small cohort that found some improvement with near infra-red light. Cant remember much about the study except that it caused me to add near infra-red light to my list of possible future options. However, I’ve not seen many posters recommending it. Please keep us posted. It would be great to hear how you get on.
I use a mat by Healthyline. It has infrared, and pemf. I bought the chair size TAO mat. Reasonable price. When I do have a flare up of rls I sleep on it on my couch. It works pretty well.
If you do look at the claimed benefits of this therapy, there's not really any surprises.
However as with most of these modern devices people seem to think that if some device works for a few things it works for everything.
There is no universal panacea
There's no evidence apparently that says near IF works for RLS.
Tried near infrared; didn't work at all. Still searching for what will work for me. Hang in there, everyone!
Yep when the norco/valium/clonazapam/etc quit working...and likethe pain level hits a 10 I use the Red Rush Nir/Red light combo...
for 20 minutes on calves Pain goes down to zero...
It is listed in research as Bio Photo Modulation..
Not all light boxes are created equal...that is why I use the Red Rush.
Use it all over my body even on my head...to reach the brain.
Been on this regiment for 6 years...they decreased my norco.
