Taking Targin has helped me get a good night sleep but the side effects such as sweats, dry mouth and gut ache wants me to try something else. A friend takes Palexia and Lyrica together which helps her. Would Palexia have the same effect as Targin. Because of this corona virus I have to have a phone visit with GP on Thursday and on my last Of the 2 week trial of Targin. I need to do my research before his call. Thank you

Help with medication. Targin Or Palexia
Hi Shir
I see you have already tried:
Repreve (ropinirole)
Sifrol (pramipexole)
Tramal (tramadol) and
Targin (oxycodone/naloxone)
Your GP may suggest continuing with the Targin and seeing if the side effects lessen the longer you take it.
If however the symptoms are unbearable, you could try Lyrica (pregabalin) on its own. Many sleep specialists/ neurologists in Australia prescribe this in the first instance for RLS.
Your GP should be aware of this. If not, it may be worth seeking out a sleep specialist who is across first line treatments.
It's usually worth trying a medication on its own before combining medications as when medications are combined in the first instance, it's difficult to establish which medication if any, are working.
People on this forum say that it takes about 3 weeks for Lyrica (pregabalin) to have optimal effect. Personally I found it to be effective straight away however as we all know, responses vary between individuals.
I did try the Lyrica on its own after 2 weeks on Targin. Nearly sent me crazy until I took the Targin late that night. Maybe my doctor will tell me to take Targin and Lyrica together for a few weeks.
