Just want to say a big thank you to all of you here . It is powerful support for me, and much needed as I continue to suffer after stopping Dopamine Agonists
My GP has me currently on Pregabalin 225 mg at 6 pm and Targin 10 mg at bedtime.I am still up and down all night walking etc and then very groggy all day .
I am wondering if anyone has had good results with Targin?
I have written to Dr Buchfuhrer but still no answer after several days. Still hoping he might answer.

Wairoa, you could still be suffering from withdrawal from the dopamine agonist. I take Targin, well, that is, the ingredient relevant for RLS (slow release oxycodon), 10mg. That suffices for me.
How long since you stopped the dopamine agonist? And which one? After taking it for how long? Although, we are all different and doses and lengths taken may not be indicative of how long and how severe the withdrawal will be. In sum, hang in there, it will get better.
Maybe ask your prescribing doctor if you can temporarily take an extra 5-10 mg of Targin in the evening.
It seems like forever but it is 9 weeks since I started to withdraw, and 3 weeks approx since I was free of DA.
The dose was Mirapex SR 0.75 mg and Sinemet 100/25 at bedtime . I have been on them perhaps 15 or 20 years , and they were years when I could live an almost normal life so I can only be thankful for that.
The whole withdrawal thing has been hideous, with not much relief or help from the Doctor, although he did try , in a very timid way, so as to be useless.
Basically , no sleep at all for at least 6 weeks except when I did take a bit of illicit oxycodone . In retrospect, I should have used it all up , for my sanity.
Now I am to see a sleep specialist next week .Not hoping or expecting much as his specialty is sleep apnoea which I do not have.
I am hoping to travel from Australia to Italy for 6 weeks in early December and am anxious to get this under some kind of control so that I can travel long haul flights and also share a room!
Totally understandable. 3 weeks since stopping the DAs is not that long. I hate to be negative, but it may go on for another few weeks, to months in the very extreme. The worst should subside soon, but again, we are all different. In view of your current bad sleep, the wordt of the withdrawals and the upcoming trip, could you aak your prescribing doctor for 10mg Targin extra nightly for the time until the end of your trip? Targin is slow release oxycodone together with naloxone, the latter added to help avoid constipation that often accompanies the use of opioids, even small amounts of opioids. So taking the illegal oxycodon your were already doing what Joolsg and I suggested.
Maybe bring the scientific paper about the DA withdrawal and that those symptoms can be helped with opioids, strong ones.
Good luck, be firm and stay sttong. You've alteady come a long way.
Btw. Have your daytime symptoms eased a bit already?
I came off Pramipexole this year. I tapered for five months. WD symptoms were hellish for some time after my final dose. I also stopped Pregabalin with yelling WD symptoms for ages. 10/5 mg Targinact didn’t do much. My totally celestial GP (physician) put the dose up to 20/10 just before I went on holiday and I couldn’t believe my luck - it worked! Not perfectly. I still have to get up 5 times a night and listen to audio books for an hour or two but end up with adequate zeds. And minimal pain when before I was being murdered by pain and no sleep. And now my Herbal remedies work again when needed. So I’d say go with Targinact but get the dose right. Try 20mg Oxy. Best luck!
Thank you for that, rkatt. I hope you have better nights too. Up 5x in a night sounds grim.
Ah what crosses we bear!
I hope for miracles but failing that, a good night’s sleep!
And I wish it for all on this site

Hi Picol, how are you going with the Targin?
Has the night wakefulness improved?
I have periodic limb movement disorder disorder and am currently on 300mg Lyrica and have a script for 10mg of Targin but am a little nervous about taking it...
I took Tramadol once and had an entirely sleepless night and am concerned Targin may have a similar effect.
I have been on Targinact for about a month now & it has been amazing - just like throwing the off switch. My GP tells me it won't last forever as all Opiods wear off eventually. But for now I'm enjoying the rest. The downside is the constipation as it's bad & worse still as the NHS won't fund Targinact I need to swap to Reltebon soon which is just Oxycodone without the laxative component. I'm not sure what the solution is yet.
