There is some evidence that vitamin d supplementation can reduce the severity of RLS symptoms for people with idiopathic RLS who also have vit d deficiency.

This does not make it a treatment for RLS. Nor will it be likely to help if you don't have a deficiency.

You could ask f or a blood test.

Dosage - unless you have an intestinal malabsorption condition, a normal daily supplement providing the RDA should be enough.

It isn't probably necessary to take more. If you were to take more, vit d toxicity is possible but rare. You'd have to take a significant amount for a significant length of time.

I've currently been taking a standardised daily supplement for about a month. It's done me no harm but has had no observable effect on my RLS. However, my RLS is currently controlled by medication and I'm not going to stop the medication simply to see if the vit d will work on it's own.
