Has anybody used oxycodone for RLS and if so what was the outcome
Yes Iv had another girl from the USA named Yikes told me about it I tried and it gave me shocking constipation ha ha
IF you take a senna laxative (vegetable laxative) every time you take an opiate, it will help some with the constipation. I would rather be constipated and laying still, then have RLS 24/7. I can deal with the constipation way better than RLS.
I just thought that prunes or prune juice would do the job As you say constipation is better tha RLS
It's true that I was using oxycodone but the reason that I was using it was because of very painful neuropathy (feet, fingers) I'm happy to say that it also helped me greatly with RLS. Presently, I am using minimal dose of oxycodone (just enough that I can get by) for still very painful neuropathy. It's highly effective.
There is little doubt in my mind that within the next month, I will be back on
pramipexole rather than increase my oxycodone dose. *I expect to come off of
oxy within the next month. xxK
I have been using it for a little more than a month, maybe 2, and it is working for me. I do get mild RLS in the afternoon when I'm at work due to sitting in one spot for so long, so I need to get up and pace for maybe 10 minutes. It is mild, but persistent so I cant just sit there and ignore it. It takes care of my RLS at night. I used the extended release and take it about 7 pm. I recently weaned off of Mirapex, and was given Gabapentin first which did not help me at all, then Methadone. Methadone worked better than the oxycodone actually (no daytime RLS) but I had a rare side effect....all over body swelling. No constipation for me but have heard many do have that problem and the dr. always asks if I am having any problem with it.
I was on oxycodone for 6 months due to a major spinal op. It was the best 6 months I have had. No Rls at all. I was fortunate that I didn't suffer from constipation but I took an anti sickness everyday to combat nausea. I am due another op next Monday and my doc has already prescribed it again for me so is am hoping to wean myself off Pramipexole while I am on it. Cheers Jimeka
That's how I discovered it too. After my knee replacement.
It is very well known that opioids are working well on RLS/WED. And they shall always give you something to avoid constipation and nausea. Here in Sweden opioids are the third choice after dopamin agonists and epilepsy drugs.
I took morphine for two years but it did not work so well with my ileo ostomy . Then tried Methadone for three months but I went sick from them so now I have an infusion pump with morphine direct into the central nerve system. Works fine!
I took OxyContin (extended release Oxycodone) for 7 years and it worked quite well. When I had to up the dosis I took methadone 10 mg which I still use. Sometimes rotation of opioids instead of upping the dose can work like in pain which is nice because you don't have to take a higher dose.
Swedish: it's good to read that your pump is still working fine. Did you have to take more of morphine?
I had oxycodone for 3 weeks following my last back surgery, and had zero RLS. My doc and I are thinking of switching the hydrocodone out for the oxy, because of no acetominophen (tylenol) in it, for one thing. Tylenol does not help RLS at all, so best not to use it if we do not need it.
