This article advises extremely high doseage of Melatonin. Up to 6mg pd.
Latest research shows that doses should be more in the region of micrograms-- say 100 to 300 pd.
The doses of mg was based on initial and ignorant research for the FDA, and has resulted in worldwide suspicion of melatonin, and thereby unnecessary restriction on its availability.
Be warned.
I agree, I have not seen that high of a dose recommended. Just found the article to be interesting! Everyone should proceed with caution on any information on a message board.
Melatonin should only be used for things like jet lag, maximum of ten days.
I used melatonin for years - sublingual 1mg tabs cut into 4 pieces so it ended up with 0.25mg. Helped with falling asleep. Then I tried a 2 mg time release and it worked fine but too groggy waking up. I don't use it at all anymore.
