Medical Cannabis

Does anyone feel that writing to Sajid Javid would be helpful in putting the case of RLS patients to the fore regarding prescriptions for medical cannabis?

Actually I have written an email a few days ago but not had an answer so far. Just wondered if a pile of emails from people suffering this horrendous illness might make a difference.

Read this and then ask yourself that question again:

The lying (bigger borrowing than labour yet claim otherwise), thieving (benefits from poor and disabled, milk and dinners from kids), Tories have people duped into thinking they have changed and they care about the poor when as usual they look after their own🙄

Thanks for sending that article. Actually I don’t support any party as I do believe they are all corrupt in different ways but, after reading of all the hypocrisy with that minister’s husband actually growing the stuff under licence, while she makes sure that the rest of us are kept well away from it, I really do feel surprised that she can stand there looking so righteous.

Oh well! Suppose we little people have just got to accept what our doctors prescribe for us (or sit with our feet in bowls of cold water in the night).

Sadly she's my MP gggrrrr such a nasty person too (sadly where i live has always been tories since gawd knows when) she's a daughter of a Sir brought up around politics specially the Tories think it's awful she and her husband grows cannabis for abroad but not for this country for folk that could do well using it such as folk with Epilepsy,MD,MS,Parkinson's , RLS and many other illnesses especially neurological problems been proven time and time again it helps fight cancer too . Why's the government keep holding back i think is because the big pharmaceutical companies would lose millions of £'s , If Medical Cannabis was available i'd want to know what's been added to it (man made substances ) mother nature put a herb on this earth for a reason something that's so cheap on it's own without messing with it .

Damn it i wrote a very long comment on why i thought we dont stand a chance of getting the medicinal cannabis oil for us. But i touched the wrong key and of course it all disappeared. So a short version what i said. The restrictions on who can use it are harsh, even those who can apply for it, have to jump through hoops. It apparently needs a specialist doctor to prescribe it and doctors have to be trained. Maybe a few years down the line we might stand a chance. Unlike in the States, where it can be prescribed in most of the States, i am sure non of the doctors are "trained" or specialists.

Also as much as I don't think writing will do much it wont hurt:

independent.co.uk/news/heal...

I see there are some cannabis based medicines, (I wonder are they all GWP concoctions) allowed in Britain and the north of Ireland however activists believe the range of cannabis will be minimal - likely whatever GW Pharma produce and as cannabis users here know you have to try a few different strains before finding one that suits and I would have found different strains would have been useful for different things - Sensi Star great for pain and sleep, Super Silver Haze great for creativity, Strawberry Cough good for RLS and one I can't remember great for nausea.

Also the range of conditions it can treat as we all know is quite vast from Anxiety to Weight Issues, (couldn't find any thing with X, Y or Z :) ), yet I know trials in cannabis use in the south of Ireland rested on Chemo treatment, Epilepsy and one other condition - I have about 5 conditions cannabis helps, and the rumours are and I would well believe them, that the use of cannabis will be restricted to the likes of Billy Cawldwell's condition and a great chance to help us all (and reduce the cost to the NHS), will be/has been missed.

Also a specialist Dr to prescribe - one who WONT know sh1t about cannabis but will think it a gateway drug, (been disproven countless times), and as addictive and dangerous as the normal sh1t they peddle. ALSO you don't need a specialist for Mirapexin and goddam that crap will mess you up big style.

I believe this is just another way of keeping control for a little longer. They know the tide has turned - the US leading the way before being over took by Canada. The south of Ireland is moving towards it.

The NHS is crumbling after years of Tory neglect and abuse and this could save it millions yet the greedy fat cats in Westminister are still trying to grab as much as their grubby little hands can grab!

Thanks for the tip raffs. I agree with all you have said. The conditions which are allowed are epilepsy, MS, for those who have restricted movement , and cancer patients who having Chemo and the cannabis will be used for sickness from the Chemo. And its AFTER ALL other meds have been tried and failed for those conditions. Yes, its control, they are keeping a tight hold on its use.......they will have to let go of that hold at sometime. Google it like i did and found what the NHS England site i think which sets it all out.

Might be worth a try!

I'd certainly give it a go. There was an interview with an MP on Today this morning who lamented progress in the area of children's treatment , and blamed it on dinosaurs in the medical and civil service establishment.

The more pressure, the better.

Lies. When they wanted to go to a false war looking WMD there was no delay, even with millions taking to the streets.

Politicians know it is a political hot potato and leaves them open to unfounded attacks from their opponents that is why they are loathe to bring it up - and that was what a local politician told me!

Can't quite see the connection between dodgy decisions to invade Iraq 15 years ago - and Libya for that matter - and a medical issue affecting a few hundred/thousand children in the UK, plus rls-sufferers who may be able to hitch a ride on the wave of approval if it ever gets that far.

in reply to Pluto46

The point was in reference to the politician that said they wanted it but bureaucracy and medical staff (oh yeah is that what Prof Nutt was saying in 2010??!!), was stalling it according to the MP.

My point was that when the British Govt. wanted to invade Iraq, (illegally), they were not held back by the opinions of professionals or bureaucrats it is a very simple connection, sorry I thought I had made that clear.

Also its not just a few RLS sufferers on the tails of a few hundred/thousand kids, it includes and is by no means limited to; cancer sufferers, people with aids, depression, anxiety, digestive problems, IBS, M.E., chronic pain, Fibromyalgia, Glaucoma, diabetes and anorexia. This is HUGE and as such will be suppressed so as to promote the maximum revenue for Big Pharma and increase in security forces.

Yes , putting forward our case might help us and, as Raffs said, if it doesn’t help, it won’t do any harm

Sorry but cannabis has zero effect on my RLS and I doubt it would help anyone else. The only thing I found helped me is Taurine food supplement pills, it’s what they put in caffeine energy drinks to stop you getting the coffee jitters and it changed nightly attacks that kept me on my feet doing physio until 8-9am into an annoying tingle in my feet and sleep by 1am most nights. I recommend trying 1000mg a night for a month to see if it helps you.

in reply to -OJ-

Cannabis helps mine and others on here.

Taurine wont stop you getting the caffeine jitters the only way to avoid caffeine jitters is to avoid caffeine!

I have MS as well as RLS. The restrictions on who will or won’t get medical cannabis means the vast majority of people with MS will not get it, despite being in severe pain. It’s only allowed for severe spasticity where all other drugs have failed ( in other words we won’t be allowed cannabis).

As this government is doing everything in its power to restrict benefits and meds for the chronically ill and disabled- there’s no way they’ll give it for a condition most doctors don’t know about.

We will have to hope medical cannabis will be available to all in the near future but suspect we will have to pay for it.
