We think it may have stopped...!!

Hi all,

Following my wife's PLMS for the last 2 years we THINK we may have managed to stop it. No real ground breaking treatment but consistent attempts with trying multiple vitamins and supplements. The breakthrough came following the regular use of iron bisglycinate supplements; a combination of 2 sources:

1) 1 tablet x 'Iron Support' made by Vegan True. 27mg iron bis but also has high quantities of Vit C, B12 and Folate. [This tablet is taken in the morning]

2) 1 tablet x 'Gentle Iron' made by Piping Rock.com. 28mg iron bis only in the capsule. [This tablet is taken one hour before sleep]

It has now been nearly 6 weeks of no symptoms and started to show its effects after around 2 months of starting the tablets. We have tried all other combinations of different iron types, magnesium, potassium and this is the only thing that has worked.

Really hope that it can work for any of you guys out there as well.

Take care,

Elliott

Great news... It's nice to hear of somebody with PLMS having success...most people here have RLS. I also have had PLMS for over 30 years intermittently ~ but the last 2 years it has just become a nightly event. Very low dose pramipexole (0.0625mg) usually works, occasionally take 0.125 mg. I will definitely look into the iron supplement suggestion. Thanks and good luck for continuing success.

Thank you, I hope it works for others. All the best 👍

Well done on experimenting and peresevering for 2 months without giving up. Usally we want quick fixes and 2 months is a really long time for keeping ones hopes up. No other diet changes what so ever? Congrats!

Hi,

No, just the iron supplement treatment. I appreciate these successes can be case specific but hopefully others may have some joy with this course of action 👍

Great to hear Jerry. Definitely worth exploring the iron route.

I don't understand. It helped PLMS? I thought this forum was for RLS sufferers. How does sharing a remedy for PLMS help those of us who have RLS?

in reply to LanaCSR

Because PLMS/PLMD is similar to RLS

As Jess said, Lanca, PLMS is very similar to RLS and many believe it has the same physiological causes; in our case iron levels.

I am just trying to provide as much info as I can on our specific circumstances so that it may help other PLMS and even RLS sufferers.
