morphine for rls

I worry about people that take morphine for rls. Morphine can cause severe dementia if taken over many years. My sister was put on it for fibromyalgia and has had severe dementia for over 10 years.

What makes you think morphine caused it?

Dr. told us so. That's all the proof we have

Drs don't hold all the answers:

There may be some contribution but no causation found. IMHO if you need a drug be it aspirin or Heroin for your condition then take it as RLS causes so many other problems that it must be treated for the person to have any sort of normal life.

My doctor refuses to give me morphine because he says if he does, there will be nowhere to go when the pain gets worse.

There are times i’ve Considered suicide because of pain, how bad is bad?

You need to tell the Dr that.

In fairness he is right - the only way is up, unless you are smart enough and able to tolerate changes in drugs - use Morphine for a while, switch to Neupro, then Lyrica, you see where I am going with this.

There is always cannabis and Kratom which are both beneficial regarding pain and Kratom is just great for RLS.

And tramadol, which many of us take and reply upon, is a synthetic morphine. Has your doctor suggested tramadol instead?
