Lots of talk of medicinal cannabis on the news. I wonder is us rls sufferers will be allowed it?

Hi, i take it you are in the UK. As there has been alot of talk going on about the 2 boys who use medicinal cannabis for their epilepsy had it stopped taken away by the Home Office and now are allowing the parents to use it for the boys. The UK Government is way behind on the medicinal benefits of using CBD oil which is what the boys have been using i believe, but the illegal stuff. Its a step forward in them now allowing the parents of those boys to use it. Lots of debate will go on now. as there are many MP's who agree that medicinal cannabis should be allowed. I think IF it did go ahead for use it would still be restricted for severe epilepsy maybe for MS, where other meds have failed, not sure if RLSers would be allowed to use it, but we can hope.

A research project here in Ireland has refused to take on rls sufferers for it's programme. Specifically for MS and Epilepsy as far as I know.

So ,not much hope there!😒

Yeah I contacted them but as in the north of the country I couldn't take part plus they were only doing epilepsy, MS and cancer (might have been nausea in cancer).

The British Govt. will have it severely restricted and likely only for sever cases. I am hopeful that will change in time if the pressure is kept up.

Its a pity that an oul boy like me who has been quite disabled and desperate at times wouldn't garner the same sympathy from the media to be allowed it (although f**k them I have some any way).

In the US, RLS cannot be a reason to get medical marijuana, per se. Chronic pain, seizures, LACK OF SLEEP, and things kind of have to add up. Since I have extreme back issues, and more surgery coming, I have pain on my list. In the US each state sets their parameters. Then the federal gov't comes in and tries to mess it up.

They will restrict where possible in order to prevent too many getting it as it will severely impact on the Pharmaceutical industry as it can be used to treat so many conditions.

In Canada we are able to get cannabis with an ok from your GP. I have been taking CBD oil legally for a couple of years. It has done nothing for the RLS but it does work for sleep.
