Relaxis Pad

Due to the expensive price tag (non covered by Medicare) on the Relaxis pad, wondering if Relaxis works and is better than other massagers available at a lower price tag? Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how helpful this will be because although I have one and would not be without it, I would hesitate to recommend it at the high price tag it carries. It is not invariably effective - it is more in the nature of a back up plan when all else fails and tends to be more useful if I am in bed during the day than when symptoms strike at night. You could say that it probably does not pass the cost benefit analysis although I am glad I have it. If money were no object I would say definitely go ahead but it is so expensive ...

Incidentally, on a recent webinar posted by rls.org, which reviewed the various phsyical devices available for RLS, it was asserted that in a double blind study the relaxis was found to be ineffective for RLS but good for inducing sleep. I have to say that this surprised me. I do find it effective for RLS although, as I have said, not reliably so. Conversely it does not seem to have much impact on sleep - go figure. There was another device that came out much better in double blind tests. I think it was a sort of wrap that you put around each leg.

The proper Relaxis pad can only be purchased from a distributor not from a shop like Argos or Boots. Its would cost alot more than £99.

See if Bed, bath and beyond still has battery powered back massagers that one can use in the car on a trip. I laid one flat, used the electric cord and it massaged the entire leg - $99.00. it will flatten fine if you are laying on it. I suggest looking it if they are still sold. I got mine several years ago, maybe 2008.
