The new RLS Medical Alert Card was sent to members of RLS-UK with our newsletter in early October.
Designed to be presented at e.g. cinemas, restaurants or airports, we hope it may assist people in securing seats more suited to their requirements and/or allow them the freedom to move as necessary.

If someone handed me that card and I didn't know a thing about rls, I would
chuckle, I would take it as seriously as I would monopoly game money.
On the other hand, if it's a medical card, it would be a lifesaver on a plane..
that way I wouldn't get charged extra for picking out my isle seat. It would
prove that I have a disability as much as a person who gets up close parking
for having a disability card to park the car, maybe? Or maybe not because
the foundation gives them rather than it be enforced by the disability department
While we are aware that many people will not be familiar with RLS we would hope that nobody would laugh at the card or its intentions. To do so would be a poor reaction to someone who is asking for help.
RLS-UK is a registered charity in the UK. Charities are monitored and regulated by the Charity Commission, a government body. Therefore our referencing of our charity number on the card will be seen by most people in the UK as an endorsement of the card, of RLS-UK and of RLS itself.
The situation regarding Foundations in the USA may be different and they may not be as heavily regulated as charities are in the UK.
We continue to hope that the card helps people with RLS and have been asked by many of our UK members to produce it. Hopefully it will be treated with the respect it deserves!
Although we are a registered charity in England and Wales, we have many supporters in Scotland and Northern Ireland and I expect they would be able to use the medical alert card to exactly the same extent.
If you wish to become a member to receive this card, please visit rls-uk.org where you can download and complete a membership form.

I am sorry to hear that you had an awful night. I hope you did not have any commitments this morning and were able to have a decent few hours sleep from 6 am onwards.
