I am 87 years old and take Dopermine but am getting desperate for a good nights sleep ,can anyone reccomend how to get a good sleep
Sounds like a medical condition, if you have the need to get up so many times in the night to use the Loo. I would see your doctor and tell him what is happening.
I kimpusan can I ask are you male or female?
yes, male or female would help. I am thinking female from the name.
The bladder issue probably has nothing to do with RLS, so you have other things going on, too. My sister is only 56 and she has the same bladder issues, but will be having surgery because the neck of her bladder just does not close all the way. There are other meds besides the dopamine meds. rlshelp.org Go to the treatment page. As we get older our baldders usually get weaker. I know there are meds for it, but most of those will make RLS worse. My sister is a nurse, she started on the meds to help control her bladder and that is when her RLS exploded. That is a whole other issue that you need to talk to your doc about.
I have this programme and have tried several things to relieve it. I eventually went to my GP who said that she could not suggest anything other than "Anti-Parkinson" drugs and as she didn't want to use them she asked me to go and try "anything " I could find myself! I tried a mattress topper that could be set to a wide range of temperatures and for 2 years it has worked. I'll see how long this works. I bought the topper via the internet.
Hi nurse14, can I just clarify ead it your restless legs or bladder problem that the heaed matress topper helped? Thankyou
Hi p1pp1ns ,
The cooling effect of the mattress helps my restless legs.
Thanks for reply Nurse 14, my legs like heat even though I dont generally, I use 3 hot water bottles at night murder in hot weather! Been thinking about an electric blanket
p1pp1ns i use a heat pad sometimes, it has a heat control and it turns its self off after a hour and a half, but you can just lean over and reset it. I rarely use it in hot weather......altho i have done when desperate.....phew.!!
If possible, drink all of your liquids before 6pm.
