Have latent TB, starting tx next week
I plan to start the four month
Rifampin
treatment regimen next week. I’ve read, on credible websites, about the possible side effects. Since I’m allergic to penicillin, I have been assured that Rafampin isn’t in the PCN family so shouldn’t have a reaction due to that.

Needing help with deciding on Rifampin vs Isoniazid for Latent TB?
I tend to have a medication sensitivity and wondering whether I would tolerate
Rifampin
or Isoniazid better ? Also in terms of safety, which medication would be a better choice? Thank you so very much in advance, any information welcomed. Sue

Rifampin and opioid meds for chronic back pain
I ..66 year old male..have been on
rifampin
about a two months for latent tb. I have been taking tramadol and hydrocodone for many years for chronic back problems. I am now dealing with tremendous back pain I haven't felt for many years. I read that
rifampin
lessens the effect of opioid medicine.

good morning
I am currently being treated for latent TB with
Rifampin
and on prednisone 6mg. I was doing so so well before this new med and it seems
rifampin
decreases the effects of prednisone which I’ve noticed so much lately! Ugh! I feel as if I’m back to square 1 with the PMR.

more of Dr. Jones' '2 minutes versions'
from Dr Jones' book - Cholestyramine (Questran) is the first line treatment for the itching. If this doesn't work, then taking Rifampicin is the next line of therapy. Even when this is effective, it can make the liver worse. It is very important to check liver function tests after taking Rifampicin

Eliquis and Xtandi - Drug Interaction
Because apixaban is metabolized by CYP3A4, the presence of strong CYP3A4 inducers such as enzalutamide will increase apixaban metabolism, reducing the AUC and maximum concentration (Cmax).21 Similar strong CYP34A inducers, such as
rifampin
, decrease the AUC of apixaban by nearly 50%.22 In vitro data

Liver problems
I feel quite sorry for myself. After a weekend of severe pain and vomiting, it turns out my liver isn't doing so well. I'm in hospital atm, and consultant initially thought I had cholecystitis, but that doesn't appear to be the case although the presentation certainly looked that way.Theyve stopped

Staph Infections Rifampin
Has anyone had to use
rifampin
while on Zytiga? Jim has been having recurrent skin staph infections. His PCP is considering
rifampin
, but UCSF says he'll have to double his Zytiga & prednisone dosage for a month and get two week metabolic panel bloodwork.

Thyroid Hormone Transporters in a Human Placental Cell Model
There has long been the received wisdom that T3 does not cross the placenta. I am not aware this has been proved in any level of detail. This paper appears to make that look wrong. Indeed, it appears to identify specific pharmaceutical agents which directly and significantly affect T3 transport

Anyone have cavitation in their lung?
I am on month six of treatment with INH/
rifampin
. My chest xray has showed a cavitation in my right lung since September of 21 (diagnosed). MY most recent xray doesn't mention any worsening, or improvement, of the cavitation. Has anyone seen any resolution in their cavity?

Latent tb treatment
I’m considering 4 month
rifampin
instead as it seems to have fewer side effects. Can anyone share your experience with either treatment regimen? Thanks so much!
