Good morning cleanteeth,

Not an easy question as everyone is different. I used the inhalator, which helped me. Think it was because it was similar to a cigarette. I found it worked for me and I didnt become reliant on it. Emjay will be on later our advisor I am sure she will be able to help.

Have a look on the various blogs and questions lots of useful tips.

Big well done on making the best move you could have done. Join in on the daily chat, everyone is so friendly and supportive. and you can have a laugh at the same time. Day 1 and you can do it. catch up later on. :)

Hi Cleanteeth,

Welcome aboard :-)

Many people find that the morning time can be a challenge for them, so you're not alone. There are two reasons for this;

1. Nicotine levels: Your nicotine levels will have dropped througout the night as you wouldn't have smoked whilst sleeping. This is why many people 'believe' that they 'enjoy' that first one, when really they are just topping up their nicotine levels. Depending on whether you are using 24 hour or 16 hour patches; You could always pop your patch under your pillow and as soon as you wake up make sure you put your patch on straight away.

2. Habit. For however many years, you have probably got up each morning and having a cigarette may have been the first thing that you have done. It is your mind that you have to work with on this one as you will have formed this action into a habit over the years. Don't worry though because you can undo this by forming a new habit of not smoing in the mornings. The more mornings that you go without smoking, the easier it will become. So, hopefully today was your first, lets see how you get on tomorrow. Practice makes perfect :-)

Thinking back to all your past quit attempts, focus on the positive and learn from the parts that didn't go too well for you.

This can be an exciting journey, you just have to roll with it :-)

Hi Cleanteeth :)

When I used patches, I also used the mouth spray for the hard times :) like you say, first thing in the morning was one of them :(

I used to put a patch under my pillow at night, so when i came to put it on the next morning it was nearer to my body temp, and found they stuck better :) but i think it takes about 20 minutes for the nicotine to get into your system.

Day 2 now then :) :) 4th attempt eh, I'm on my 6th attempt, just put the other attempts down to practice runs eh :)

Speak soon, Pete :)
