Hi thenunn,

I stopped on 25th September last year, i'd been thinking of stopping for a while when i came across this lovely site, like you i had a look round the site and asked a question, i then set a quit date, i have to say that this is now the second quit date i've set since being on here, i was determined to stop, it has helped my Raynauds and now i have a grandson on the way, i didn't want him coming into a house smelling of smoke, it is the best thing i've ever done :) i meant to say that i had my last cig before bedtime and started the next morning, i found that best for me

I hope you can start your own smoke free journey soon, and know that we're all here for you :)

Oh madi lucky you, you must have such a lot of wilpower

The nunn i stopped on 15th january, 10 days ago, i got champix from the doctor, set my date for tuesday that has just been but took it forwars a week, why? At the moment i am not so sure as it is been a tough few days but then i thought this morning i could be on day 3 instead of day 11 so maybe that is good.

I had the champix in the cupboard since april because i knew i wanted to stop at somepoint but it was when the right time for me would it happen.

I took the plunge because me and the hubby were having lots of arguments about money and really i could not justify spending nealy £7 a day on fags.

I always said when i was younger that i didnt want to be a smoker when i hit 30 and guess what,

I turned 30 in august :(

So here i am day 11 into stopping, would love to have a fag, but im not going to today because i want to make my kids proud and give them that holiday to florida that we all want once we have saved up enough money to pay bills etc, might take a while but we will get there :)

that's what I've been doing mad

I've told myself that someday I will have a fag again but just not at the moment, it's the same as saying to take every day as it comes isn't it?

I stopped on the 27th February 2012, I finished reading a book called Allen Carrs Easyway to stop smoking, I had no idea it would work, but am so very happy that it did. So next month it will be a whole year of freedom :)

I knew I wanted to quite, felt like I wasn't enjoying it anymore and I was a slave to it. So I smoked what roll-ups I had left up to Saturday 5 Jan, and then smoke free since 6 Jan. I'm not using any quitting aids, but I do have enough tobacco in my tin for one more cig - just in case! So far, never been tempted.

Good luck to you!

I stopped on 17th January, am using Champix and apart from the odd craving all is going well, just decided enough was enough, got rid of all cigs, lighters etc, have weekly support from smoking cessation nurse via phone and regular appointments to check i am not having a sneaky fag. All good so far and no more standing in the cold to smoke.

You cannot force yourself to stop when you do that i find that in a couple wks time you will be smoking again i found that out myself 4 times actually.

You will know when the time is right mine was when myself and my 2 boys all had a cough it wasnt all to do with my smoking because i didnt do it round them but all the coughing drove me round the twist and that was it i took my son to see the Dr and as i was there fag ends was on so after seeing the Dr i went straight into the fag ends.

That was last May, it is hard and i still use the spray, not as much but it still helps to tell you the truth i think its a habit now but i would rather have that habit to smoking,

Hi Newromantic I totally agree with you cannot force yourself..and as this shows its different for everyone. Its really motivating though to hear about others that have been there and i thank you all for your answers. You're all brilliant in my eyes :)
