Hi Singh, nice to see you joined us, teeth pain is quite common when you stop smoking, as Sue said if you read some of the blogs on here you will find others with the same problem as you. It will settle down just give it time and just think you,ll have a lovely white smile instead of brown teeth. Thats got to be good.

I'm so sorry your getting teeth pain erm just wondering if you can give us a bit more detale on your quit like how long have you been quit, are you using any NRT at the moment and if so which ??

OMG teeth, they are the reason I am trying to quit and I can totally sympathise with anyone who is suffering with pain in their teeth or gums or both. I only decided to try to stop smoking I think it was the day before New Years eve, I can't even remember I was so stressed out with my teeth. To cut an incredibly long story short I had a deep scale and root planing on my teeth in September last year by a hygienist, then in October the dentist decided to do it again. I have suffered burning and pain in my teeth ever since October. In November another dentist said I have gum disease and that I should try to stop smoking and that early tooth loss would happen!! I stood in the dentists reception on Christmas Eve sobbing to the receptionist asking if there was anything I could do to stop the pain. She suggested a consultation with the private dentist there in January. Best £25 I ever spent. He coated the exposed roots of my front teeth with a resin, it took two minutes literally and they are absolute bliss now, completely pain free. Still determined to stop smoking though to save my teeth, I now know what it's like not to be able to eat properly if teeth don't work or worse still fall out. I suffered right through Christmas having to break food up as I couldn't bite it. Like a bacon butty, I had to take the bacon off eat it, then tear the butty up into bits to eat that - no way to enjoy a bacon sandwich. Anyways because I suffered so much and did loads of research on the internet I now know a fair bit on the subject of teeth, gums, pain and how to treat it, if anyone needs to know. Only had 1 ciggie this morning, I haven't managed to kick that one just yet but no more today.
