I am on chantix for the 10th time. I really thought it was gonna stick this time, and while I have not given up hope, I am frustrated. I quit, on my quit day, Aug. 24th. I started again Aug. 26th after hearing from my doctor that I have MS. Of all the reasons to quit, that should’ve been a great reason to not pick up a smoke. However, here I am still on chantix, still smoking. I care for my elderly uncle who also has MS, and also smokes in his house. In the past, I’d quit, feel strong in my quit, and go to the bar and ruin it all. I no longer drink, no longer go to the bar, but I still can’t commit to the next quit day knowing I’m going to be at my uncle’s all day watching him smoke. I just need some help and encouragement to get me there!

Hello BobblsMine . and welcome to Quit Support, Ireally feel for you with all the responsibility
you have with your Uncle etc
Its never easy quitting May I ask have you tried a different form of nrt. or perhaps using the patch as well as chantix. Many members have used both.
As for watching your Uncle smoke you could try an e cig or an inhalator instead of cigarettes.
You seem determined to quit. Have a look through the pinned posts to get some more tips and information.
Keep this site close and bob in whenever you need , whether its a question or a moan and groan or just general chat.
Once you have a Quit date just let us know and we can assign you a badge next to your name.

Hi BobbIsMine,
Well done for reaching out and posting.
Wow! You really have got a lot going on! Please don’t judge yourself for being a serial quitter, that’s coming from another serial quitter!
It’s credit to you that no matter how difficult and challenging your circumstances and environment you are still giving it your best shot! 🤩 That’s how you will quit! 🤩
I think having a thorough plan is something that may help you through. Before my last quit (this one) I literally went through every scenario where I knew I’d always smoke, wrote it down and the wrote down next to it as many coping strategies as I could think of.
I wrote down my top, top reasons why I was choosing to persevere through my quit, this I had to keep at the front of my forehead at all times, like concreted!
I also wrote down a list of things I was going to do first if I did come up with the thought I was going to smoke, so I had to do all these things before actually allowing myself to have that cigarette. Things like post on here, tell my smoking buddies, wait for the time of the craving to pass (for me that was 4 minutes something).
I really don’t think I would have got this far if I hadn’t taken my quit seriously without a thorough plan and support for myself.
I certainly haven’t been through what you are going through, but I’ve certainly had some difficult challenges in my first 2 years of quitting and I stayed quitting. It is doable even though tough, but use every bit of support you can, one day at a time, you can do it, like many many members on here.
If I can help in any other way, please just let me know.
you can do this 🙏🏻🥰💪🏻
Welcome to Quit Support BobblsMine 👍👋👋I see the lovely Lady's have given you some great advice 👍but I've used Champix which they dont make now and with that, you would smoke for about 10 days and gradually you just didnt wont a smoke anymore 🚭but you have to finish the course of the tablets. I'm not sure if the chantix is something similar🤔
You say your uncle smokes, then I would definitely go for the Inhalator or a E-cig 👍
Take care now 👍😀
