Good morning, afternoon, evening to you all I hope your all well and enjoying life π Iβd like to talk a bit about garden birds today, cos they donβt smoke see π
I was in the garden the other day choppsing over the garden fence as we do and two of my neighbours were having a debate over the pair of birds that were flying in and out of one of their nest boxes, one was saying they were Blue tits the other saying they were Great tits π I assured them that they were Blue tits but one of them was not convinced, soooo, I had to get my book of ββGarden Birdsββ and show her the difference between them as in the picture above π
A pair of birds got me thinking last year cos hadnβt seen them before, they turned out to be Coal tits, they had the same markings of a Great tit on there heads, but no black stripe down there chest and were a sort of pinkish/light brown body, also smaller like a Jenny wren. I havnt seen them this year yet βΉοΈ mind you, the young ones did have a few problems flying out of the nest box, I noticed one in the opening of the nest box, so I quickly picked my cat up and took her inside the house and shut the door π then noticed the first chick had fallen on the floor, so I picked it up and put it on the fence near there parents, the second one flew over my head into a tree, the third one flew past me onto the fence, the forth one just stopped looking out of the hole, so I put my hand up to just bellow the hole and the forth jumped on my hand, I put that one on the fence as the fifth one flew past me into a shrub π
By the way, Iβm not a twitcher but I do twitch a bit if I get a big bill come through the letterbox πΉπΉπΉ Iβm just interested in the birds I get in my garden π What types of birds do you get in your garden ?
Have a lovely Wednesday everybody π°π°π°π°ββββ
Good morning Monky, I thought moving into a flat I would miss seeing all the birds I used to get in my garden. How wrong I was. We are on the top floor and although dont have a garden I see loads of birds. We have the odd crow keeps jumping on to the edge of our balcony , a pigeon who sits on top of the lampost which is on a level with our window, we have a fir tree opposite which houses pigeons, wren, sparrows and lots of birds come to eat the seeds from the pine cones. We have what I think are some yellow hammers but not sure.
Ducks and swans fly past the window ,and a heron . I think one of the ducks might have been Briarwood with her nurses outfit. We also have young magpies who love playing in and out of the tree, The crows like pattering around on the roof and banging pebbles on the skylight .
So plenty of twitching for me.
Have a lovely day. ππββββ
