Good morning my lovely, five days into cold turkey is brilliant 👏👏👏👏 well done, I used extra strong mints as an alternative to cigarettes(suck dont chew)...... and to help with the insomnia, it was suggested I try decaf tea, and it works a treat, it tastes the same as ordinary tea, just no caffine! You can also get decaf coffee.
Congratulations for 5 days .. you have already cleared first 72 hours (3 days ) barrier, by now most of Nicotine is out Of your body and since you smoked long , body needs time to readjust itself without nicotine. Believe me , each and every function of body becomes dependent on nicotine and hence it’s addiction.
Few suggestions:
Take it as a big Operation going on your body and mind , where nicotine is getting removed from each neurones, like any big surgery it will take time to recoup and become normal and better.. so take plenty of rest , drink lots of water .
Remember your body is ultimate fighter .. when it can sustain 40 years of smoking abuse .. it can definitely sustains few months of withdrawal symptoms.. what it needs you stand with your body .
The difficult and critical battle will be in your mind with Nicotine, where nicotine will try to convince you (say psychological triggers) to smoke .. but if you recognise it’s nicotine speaking in your mind and not you .. you can defeat him .
For mind victory , mindfulness meditation works wonder .. do it .
Finally , you loose or win battles in mind first before your body gives in ..
