I quit smoking 21 days ago and was wondering how everyone else felt at this point? I feel healthier but have been suffering alot of heartburn and bleeding g gums. As a dental nurse I know how nicotine affects gums so not overly concerned about that. The heartburn is my main worry. Thank you 😊

Hiya dawny and welcome to quit support😊

Congratulations on 21 days quit, brilliant achievement👍🏼

Unfortunately acidity, indigestion and heartburn are common side effects☹️ as are bleeding gums but nothing to worry about. Your body is going through huge changes at the moment and it takes a while to settle down.

Lots of good advice here, have a look at the pinned posts on the right and if ya need anything, just shout. Very friendly members always willing to help.

Our mantra is NOPE not one puff ever🚭🚭

Are you using any NRT or cold turkey as this helps us to understand your quit and offer the best advice we can.

Good luck🍀

Aw thank u! Great advice 😊 I am using 16 hour patch. Cravings are under control now just about. Worried about what will happen when I stop the patch. 😐

just take one day at a time and it's a gradual weaning down process, so by then your body will be ready but don't worry about that now. Just keep going one day at a time and you'll get to where ya want to be. Nite nite😴

Hi Dawny79, a big warm welcome to our quit support community :) and great congratulations to you for reaching 21 days quit :) :) :) am just loving it gal :) :) :)

As our lovely Briarwood has said, the symptoms you have are just the norm for your stage of quit :) sorry gal :( but the heartburn should go within a few days :) ermm, as for your bleeding gums, the time varies soooo much :o

When we smoked, we smoked more or less through our gums :o and they build a resistance up to combat it :) and now we are not smoking, they dont need it anymore :) This is why our gums bleed :o I'm sure your dentist will confirm that :)

Dawny, your doing ever so well and I hope your very PROUD of yourself :) cos am dead proud of ya gal :) :) :) If you would be so kind as to let me know your quit date, cos then I can add you to the Wall of Winners and keep your Winners badge up to date :) :)

Pete :)
