madametobacco49 in reply toAndrew-S

no haven't ditched and no big plans to--I NEVER rush myself or do the fear factor--as Ive said it makes me go backwards--Im not promoting them--but if im on them forever that's ok too--one or two hits a day isn't nuthin--Im ok--just eating like Ive been on a 50 yr fast--what a drag- that ever present yearning that transfers from nicotine craving to food craving-If a person just didnt gain it sure would be fun, wouldnt it??--Im going to start exercising heavily next week--I hope--I hope u r ok too my friend ;)

Andrew-S in reply tomadametobacco49

Yes I am fine thanks. Still prob eating too much like u but not worrying too much about it. Cravings hunger / nicotine?? God. Glad u still got e cig I'm still on the patches and gum 😀👀

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toAndrew-S

well Ive heard that food craving is really nicotine craving but sure feels like im just starving and not for nicotine==Bet you chew that gum pretty good some days--you kno all this stuff helps but honestly I miss that dirty smoking--Isnt that awful?? But its true--Someone told me today--just casually--oh don't worry about it --in 2 yrs you wont even think about it--TWO YEARS??? HEL----LLLLOOOOO I don't kno if iM up for 2 years of this--=then some man at grocery store who has never smoked but knows it all told me --you eat more when you smoke---isn't that funny?? Uhhh NOT

Andrew-S profile image
Andrew-S in reply tomadametobacco49

Iv heard of people who gave up years ago and still want one. I don't think u ever get over it but it surely gets easier and you just have to resist and stick to nope.

Yeah I'm using the inhalator at the moment. I wouldn't listen to someone who never smoked what would he know u eat less when u smoke that's why we eating more now... 😂

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toAndrew-S

no the guy about eating more when you smoke was a joke to me--its funny how much people know who haven't been thru what they are experts on--what is an inhalator? I don't think we have them here

Andrew-S profile image
Andrew-S in reply tomadametobacco49

An inhalator is a tube where u put a cartridge in with nicotine in it u get it free on prescription in uk👀🚭

Andrew-S profile image
Andrew-S in reply tomadametobacco49

No I don't agree with it! I get cravings for egg and chips dip the chips in the yolk beautiful. Now I read somewhere that eggs make u lose weight so it's practically health food.

Also Iv just tried porridge and had no jam left so put marmalade in it. Oh my god just when u thought there were no new pleasures to discover it's delicious. 🎂🎂🎂

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toAndrew-S

seriously I eat 4-6 eggs aday--fry them golden brown sprinkle truffle salt and real butter on them--OMG--cant believe you brought up eggs--Yes I am living on them--a lot--and tuna--just canned white albacore--I put in fridge and open a can when I want--On the other hand--Ive eaten 3 big bags of chips in a week with French onion and bacon dip and lotsa chocolate--I was dieting before I quit smoking so I kno how to do a low carb hi protein diet but boy I hit the skids with this smoking quit...Now me talking about eggs and chips--I never heard of dipping chips in egg yolk--Is that original?? You mean potato chips?? and what do you mean porridge?? Porridge can be pudding, oatmeal, custard--here--Its more of a consistency description here rather than a dish--How interesting--and we never say jam it is all jelley here mostly--lol--isn't that a hoot??

Andrew-S profile image
Andrew-S in reply tomadametobacco49

That's so funny it's like a different language ok: chips means fries? I think. Potato chips we call crisps! Jam is jelly yeah. Porridge is

madametobacco49 in reply toAndrew-S

Yes in san Francisco I used to get fish and chips--and it was French fries and we put salt and vinegar on them---we call your oat porridge oatmeal--we have orange marmalade--expensive and tart--This is so funny--crisp?? we have so many different kinds of crisps--on grocery shelves you would die--anything crispy has the word crisp in it--ie vegetable crisp crackers stuff like that-- again crisp describes a texture here--it is an adjective not a noun

Andrew-S profile image
Andrew-S in reply tomadametobacco49

Yeah fish and chips. Crisps are what u will call chips. A noun like a bag of crisps.

What about crispy pancakes?? Lmao 👀😀

They are crispy pancakes like pancakes with savoury filling and coated in breadcrumbs nicer than they sound. Yes we have waffles. Vegemite sandwich is Australian they love it better ask glolin she probably has them every day lol 👀

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toAndrew-S

Droopy told me bout vegemite--Are the pancakes cooked twice then--Where are you?? I thought Australia-- we don't use the word savory much unless a person is a chef or in ads--so what would you put in them ? whipped cream and jam--

droopyJ profile image
droopyJ in reply tomadametobacco49

Andrew-S profile image
Andrew-S in reply todroopyJ

Hi, are you still snowed in? In Australia, e-cigs with nicotine are illegal but you can get ones that pretend to be. IMO not worth the expense. The "real" ones might give you a hit, but then you would need to wean yourself off those I imagine. I am not condemning the use of them btw, but not having them available removes the option.

(I did try patches once, but my heart wasn't in it, so I failed.)

Best wishes Ngaire xx 🍰🎂🍩🍪🍧🍹🍾

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toNgaireM

still a lot of snow but in the 20s and 30s now. Boy,the east coast is going to get blasted the next 3 days--900 flights cancelled and stores are emptied of food etc--up to 2 feet of snow and ice--really bad--Yes still do the e-cigs--like 1 or 2 drags a day--no big deal--95% safer than regular cigs--and only 3 things in the ones I get as opposed to 400 chemicals in regular cigarettes--I may have them around forever--don't know--I kind of let myself evolve with this whole thing--just don't go backwards --.. Im so hungry im going to turn into a blimp before this is all said and done and im not happy about that at all--Just starving--when it hits I have to eat right now--so that sucks--Thanks for writing--They don't sell e cigs where you are?? They are everywhere here

NgaireM profile image
NgaireM in reply tomadametobacco49

Hi again! In Australia you can buy e-cigs in various flavours BUT no nicotine, it is illegal here. The ones we can buy are pretend cigarettes with no nicotine hit. Our federal drug agency says that nicotine is poisonous and addictive and can't be regulated in e-cigs ( they allow cigarettes - duh!!!) Work that one out!

The weather over there sounds absolutely terrible - I hope everyone finds somewhere safe and warm to be.

We are mid-summer here, with the hottest weather to come February - fingers crossed for no more bushfires.

All the best

Ngaire xx

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toNgaireM

wow that's crazy--I just assumed e-cigs were everywhere--RJ Reynolds --the biggest cigarette mfg here--also makes e-smokes- as well -so I spose they are trying to keep their money rolling in=Other companies make them too--Swisher Sweets a cigar mfg makes them and companies that have had nothing to do with tobacco--they come in flavors too--with and without nicotine--and different colors--I have had black,white,silver,pink--the one I have now has a usb connector I charge on computer--it is silver--and blinks red on end while charging and when you take a drag it will turn white when getting low on nicotine cartridge--isn't that crazy?? I remember thinking I would never touch them-but now they are helping me but nothing like the real deal--you don't hold it and smoke on it for 10 minutes--at least I don't--I just take a puff once in a while- when things get to bad--I guess whatever it takes=---and what is available--It sure is hard--but im to the point I cant go back--I think that point comes--where it would take an effort to be like I was before--I don't kno--maybe like riding a bicycle -=hope I never find out--Thanks for writing and hang in there

in reply toNgaireM

Good morning Ngaire☕️☕️

Funny how the government can ban NRT in Australia but will sell cigarettes.... That's a conspiracy If I've ever seen one..... Geeze...... I don't want to fall victim to the tobacco industry ever again....

Hope you're having a good day , evening🌏🌎🌍

Arizona xx

NgaireM profile image
NgaireM in reply to

Hi Arizona, I am well thank you 😀😀😀 Just to clarify for you, Australia has a Therapeutic Drug Agency that controls all sales of electronic cigarettes with nicotine in them and they are illegal in Australia because no studies have been done on the EXACT dose of nicotine administered by e-cigs under controlled conditions. N.R.T. Such as patches, gum and spray are available however.

Such concern for our welfare makes me wonder why ordinary cigarettes are still legal. We are taxed very high on them here - my hubby pays $26.40 for 25 cigarettes!!

Without being nasty, I honestly wonder how so many people on welfare can afford them - it is now over $1.00 per cig.

With all the knowledge already gathered on the damage cigarettes cause I must admit to leaning towards banning them entirely within say a 5 year timeline. Not sure if it CAN be done, but maybe......

I know just how hard it is to quit, so N.O.P.E. For me

Cheers Ngaire xx

Andrew-S in reply toNgaireM

I was about to say that's extortion but then in uk it is £10 for 20 so about the same cost 😀

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply toNgaireM

I pay 3.50 to 7.00 for an e-cig--the 3.50s are disposable--the 7.00 you get a usb connector and one cartridge--equivalent to 20 smokes--or about 300 drags---5.50 for refill--plug right into computer--the 3.50 ones are only 1. mgs something nicotine ==the 7 dollar one is 4. something mgs==last me forever at this rate--It is called Vuse

madametobacco49 profile image
madametobacco49 in reply tomadametobacco49

a pack of cigs is 5.50 to 7.50 for 20--can get real cheapies for 4.00==you don't smoke a e like a reg--its just a pull once in a while
