I haven't quit yet, but...

So I woke up this morning and coughed up some really disgusting stuff.

I know my health is going downhill because of these things.

My kids whine whenever I light up (outside, I don't smoke indoors), and my 8yo put my cigs in the bin last week!! How very dare he???

Also, it's nearly xmas, the £9 I spend every day on cigs could be spent in much better ways - I am not loaded.

I really really want to stop. Really. But I've tried sooo many times! The longest I've stopped was when pregnant and breastfeeding but as soon as that was over I was straight back on them.

Anyway, I am going to boots in my lunch break to get patches. I called the NHS stop smoking people and I have an appointment for next Monday (23 Nov), so can get patches on script then.

I am going to nail this!!! Can't stand being told off by an 8 and 6 year old, especially as there is nothing I can say to defend myself, and the horrendous morning coughing.

Fingers crossed!!

Kim, I (we!) heartily commend your decision to quit. Having a plan and carrying it out is the way to go .. good for you that you are making preparations! The more support you can find the better -- including professionals like a GP or others -- chemists can often be very helpful, too. Check out some of the pinned posts on this site and definitely come back! All the Best! - Will

Tesco did do a no smoking programme where you got patches gum and some other things for free just saves you going boots buying the patches as they are so expensive. I did try a couple of times with this but I've managed cold turkey this time round. You will be fine if you get an app on your phone that adds up what you have saved from jog buying fags that may help you. It did me !!! Love to smoke can't afford it..

Hey kimquit, good for you and good for your kids 😊😊 there's a guy on here called quitterpaul, he asked his 8yrold daughter what she wanted for her birthday.... She asked him to give up smoking!

Oh kids are as cute as 😊😊

If you were to give up smoking on 23rd November then on the 24th December you would have saved a staggering £288.... Now that would be a fantastic Christmas or keep saving and you and your family could have a fantastic family holiday😊

It's ridiculous the amount of money we burn in order to put 4000+ killer toxins in our bodies...😊😊 kids no best 😊😊

Looking forward to hearing all about your smoke free memories with your family 😊😊😊
