Hi dee, 4 th week for you already, well done :)

I had loss of appetite and need to put weight on so I was very surprised I lost 8 lbs and I was hoping to put it on. So there goes that myth :D

I think our body is going through such changes in the early weeks that we never really know what way it will react :)

It's just different for everyone but try and tempt yourself with something you fancy :)

You need to keep your strength up :) x

I never coughed up anything & I was a smoker of 15/day for 39 years.I still haven't coughed even after 10 months.I know my chest is better because I can walk uphill in the gym without thinking I'm dying !! Appetite wise I just got really hungry ALL THE TIME! So I can't help with the loss of appetite thing but as an ex registered nurse I would advise little meals/snacks often up to maybe 6 day.Even if you just make a smoothie or drink some milk it'll get the calories and vitamins in.Maybe consider a vitamin/mineral supplement until things settle down. You have an awesome quit of 4 weeks and you should be VERY very proud of yourself.Congrats.Hugs H x

The SOB is wearing me out, causing heart to work harder 4 O2. More energy burned has caused some wt loss.

My chest x-ray displayed hyperinflated lungs. Not sure what stage of COPD I am at. My SOB has resulted in my quitting not the other way around. Just

hoping for the best for all of us

Believe me deeFB, loss of appetite is more a blessing than a curse. Having to deprive yourself of food to stem the weight gain as well as ciggies can be tough. As far as the coughing goes, I had only a mild cough for a few days after a couple of weeks & that wasn't a productive cough either. I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you. Congratulations on 4 weeks smoke free.

Congrats Deefb on 4 weeks quit :-) I haven't had a cough during my quit journey, and I had been a smoker for 45 years !! but have put weight on even though at times I have had loss of appetite.

We are all in this to win it, and win we will :-) Stay strong.

I've had good luck with the steam sauna in my gym, also if you lock up your bathroom towel under the door and don't turn the fan on get that shower blazing hot and breath deeply for a couple minutes. I've also been bending over and touching my toes while in the steam room. These sound weird, but it gets me hacking up some gross stuff. If I don't do this I just don't cough. As far as appetite, smoke a joint. Works for me.

Aup Dee :)

Just wandering if you exercise at all, cos this does help to get rid of that mucous :) or maybe go and see your doc to get something to help loosen it :)

I'm sure you would feel loads better if you could get rid of it :) :)

Hi there, joining this late, worrying about the same issue ...

After 6 weeks I have not coughed once; lung capacity does not feel any better; have been trying to run/walk, after a bit a progress during the first couple of weeks things seem to move backwards. Wondering now whether my lungs are damaged beyond repair.

(Plenty of appetite though, put 7 kg on)

Hi astrids I have never coughed, I have never even had a smokers cough and I smoked for about 35 years😩

Not everyone does so please don't panic.... If your worried then go and see your GP

I was in same boat, I could not figure out after 42 years of smoking why I did not cough my lungs out. Ended up in Hospital over COPD episode and the RT sent me home with this hand held thing called a Aerobika (Google it) it Motorboats your lungs is the only way I can describe it. Crazy thing works just 2 times a day 10 mins each time. Hope it helps.
