A word of warning to all.

I have just come home after a full day of golf, overall it was a good day, didn't win and lost trust in a friend!. Half way round the golf course I wasn't playing my best but it doesn't pay the mortgage haha. My friend and regular golfing partner took out a box of ALVOR cigars, special Spanish ones, his comment I won't forget, 'I know you have stopped but you can have one of these.' I think my reply made him understand that I did not want one of his cigars and where he would find the cigar if he offered me one again. He is now a golfing associate, caught me by surprise. Is he jealous that so far I have avoided temptation. Anyway one month this Saturday.

Best wishes to all.

Well done to you for turning down your friends offer. I'm the kind of person who will give people the benefit of the doubt, and being as it was a cigar, perhaps he genuinely thought that you could have just one and then carry on not smoking and that it wouldn't make any difference. But you know him much better than I do and if he did do it out of malice, well you're better off finding yourself a new non smoking golf buddy. Now you're only 1 day away from one month of not smoking - well done and keep going :)

Women have this problem too with the diet saboteur, usually turn up with a big fat cream cake a couple of days after you announce you're dieting saying well one li'l ole cream cake can't hurt, you know you want to.

Ah Sin, how right you are - "cept in my case it is not friends trying to lead me off the straight and narrow with tempting cream cakes, but Tesco! (Or Asda, or Co-op or anywhere else there is food!!!)

Well done Jimi on being strong -i hope the offer was not made out of malice, i know people consider the odd cigar not smoking and i suspect he won't offer again!

Month for me as well if i get thru' tomorrow :0) x

Hi Jimigolf, well done to you :-) Saying 'No' can quite often be one of the hardest parts of stopping smoking. I hope those new golf shoes go well with that new spring in your step :-)

Zetters, work your way through today staying smokefree and this will make it easier for you tomorrow :-)

Must admit I got a kick out of saying no and felt quite proud, but a craving did kick in, maybe even easier next time.
