Anyone had problems with swolen lips?

Mum seems to have started chewing at the inside of her bottom lip which now looks very swollen and tender. She has had a recurrent urinary infection over the last month and has just started her 3rd course of antibiotics (each one different).

Has anyone else had problems like this?

can't help with this one Kathy, but the urinary infections are the bane of our lives at the moment, I can always tell as there is such a change in Franks moods and behaviour. Perhaps this could be the cause of the the lip chewing?

Thanks for answering. Bless her - she looks like she's been in the ring with Mike Tyson!! I wasn't sure if it was the infection or the treatment that's causing the problem! Or even if it's just another part of this wretched condition.

Sorry to hear that Frank is having similar problems with his waterworks The GP keeps saying " she needs to drink more" but she has between 8-10 drinks a day and, short of holding her down and force feeding her ;-), I don't see how we can get her to drink much more!!!

The other problem is that since she's had the infections she is having the occasional "accident" during the day which she never has before [she's had the occasional accident at night for a while now].

Now and then my husbands lits mouth tongue seems to look swollen and he speaks as if he has a mouth full of marbe , he has also started to drook quite badly ..

I havent got Parkinsons but recently injured my foot /ankle . Dropped a piece of kitchen worktop on it .. OUCH !!!!!!!!!!! Have been given a course of antibiotics .

Have found that they are causing my lips and mouth to swell ..

My mum has a swollen bottom lip most the time too. Problem was she was given something very hot to eat accidentally and the food burnt and swelled her bottom lip. Make sure she does not eat anything too hot which may burn the bottom lip! Furthermore I have noticed she has difficulty controlling her jaw and sometimes she can bite the lip and occassionally the tongue and has difficulty releasing it. Mouth ulcers on her bottom lip have also been a problem too and can make eating very difficult for her. Good luck anyway.

Like most things with this horrible illness we may never know the cause - we just have to deal with it!

Hello Kathy - since my diagnosis of PSP I have the tendancy when eating of biting the inside of my mouth - it causes me the most excruitiaitng pain and takes a few days to settle down. In the meantime, i have to be really careful not of bite again which is difficult as the area is puffed up and gets in the way when I am eating. I too suffer from the dreaded UTI's something we all seem to have to put up with!! love SueW xx
