Hi, looking for some advice on how to assist someone with breathing when nose is congested. Unable to open mouth so really tricky when nose is stuffy. We are using steam, menthol vapour but not nasal sprays due to poor swallowing. Later stage PSP. Thankyou 💖

I used an air purifier machine for my mother - the cheapest Levoit one on Amazon worked. You don’t have to empty out water or anything. There’s a filter that you can put olbas oil or similar on to help give a constant flow. We ran it day and night. When things got particularly bad - particularly when she was being fed because then she couldn’t breathe through her mouth - we added a tissue with olbas oil on her chest as well.

I actually used this baby snot sucker for my mom, Fridababy is one brand. She was unable to cough on purpose or blow nose etc and this really helped. It’s just like a flexible little straw with a chamber and filter and you can help remove any snot in the nose gently.
