hi Bailey my husband who has just died was chc funded because of p.s.p he came out of hospital was the package and like you I had had no experience of care but soon realised that the care company was not good. I went back to the chc and complained that I was not happy with the care and they put the package back on the system and my new care company were lovely made husband life much more comfortable, I did have to wait for a company to pick it up two months as every where is so busy but so pleased I did, dreaded the people coming in which was not good around for me or husband. Good luck

With PSP so rare it's unlikely you will find a company with experience. What you need is a company that will take the time to understand the condition. It took me several goes to find the "right" company but it was worth the effort. The manager came out and met Mum and myself, we explained the condition and how as Mum lost the ability to talk it was important for her to have regular carers that got to know her and her routine. As in all things, there had to be some give and take, so the appointments weren't always at our chosen time, but Mum would rather get up half an hour earlier with her favourite carer. Through out the key was communication both with the office and with the carers. At times it seemed alot of effort was put in to keep things on track and there were problems at times. Sometimes a carer will walk into a situation at a previous client which they have to sort out and so are late to you. You have to be able to make allowances for things like this. Once you find a good team, treasure them. There were two ladies in my Mum's team who I grew particularly close to and they gave me great support right through our journey and beyond.Good luck, it's hard finding the right company and team, but it is worth the effort.

You say you are in the North East of England, if you are in the North Yorks area I can recommend the company that look after my wife very well indeed, we are also CHC funded. They are based in Northallerton but travel a good distance from there. Let me know and I will post their details.
