Hi Antia50, my dad has been put on a medication patch, not for pain but for agitation. I wonder if there’s a patch for pain relief too so that you would know she would definitely be getting the correct dose to see if it’s working. Or a suppository, although not very pleasant in itself.

Dear Anita

Sorry to read your post. I don't know where you are, but if you have access to your Doctor or community nurses, they hopefully will be able to put some palliative care into effect. This should make life more comfortable for your sister.

Hope this helps.

Hi Antia50, definitely speak to your palliative care nurses that can help with the pain. My mum is also struggling with swallowing anything now but we have some long, thin ice cubes that we wrap the end in kitchen roll and she socks them, we've flavored some with cordial too. It's really helped with her thirst and the fact it's freezing cold helps more x

Have you got any help with the pain. Can they not just do a driver or a drip for morphine now ? She doesn't need to be in pain, have you spoken to palliative care at all ? Surely they will need to support you now. Sending loads of love your way. Xx
