Video calling

My mom is now unable to answer her phone and I was looking into devices which are simple and easy to use ie ..video chatting without my mom having to answer the call. I am considering the Echo Show by Amazon since a lot of the other ones that I liked are not offered in Canada. Any suggestions ?

Thx :)

Hi there...I've thought of this too, for my dad...but I worried that I might accidentally 'drop in' on him at an inappropriate time! (like when the carers are giving him a wash!) My dad doesn't have any speech so couldn't answer a call with his voice... but otherwise I think it's a great idea to stay connected.

Thanks for your reply...I have thought of that as well. Also some places don't allow such devices due to privacy issues so will have to look into that but I feel so unconnected when I don't hear from her so hopefully will find a solution.

Amazon Echo Show. Use the "drop in" feature. You can connect to the echo show from your phone using Alexa App or from another Echo Show of your own. When you connect it makes a sound and it also blurs your camera for 5 seconds or so before you can see.

Thanks! I just bought it and it works really well….I love seeing and talking to her. It gives me more of an idea of how she’s doing. It really gives me peace of mind!
