Over a year ..

It’s been almost a year and a half since my Mom has been in the same room with my siblings. This past Sunday, I offered some time to be together —- all vaccinated and boosted —

I was afraid to wait longer … Mom needed to see her boys face to face and beyond a screen. Knowing it has been viewed by other family members as a major risk —- those words coming from “bold family members” behind a keyboard. 🙄

Anyway — I am at peace knowing that this short visit over hot chicken soup, my Momma experienced major JOY!

Pic: She is really tired at this point, I can see it in her eyes. Her pointed finger is always extended. The little cloth pet toy is actually something she holds in her clinched hand —- what’s with me and pet items to assist in my mom’s care??? 🤣

Mom sleeps about 15-17 h out at a day .. up only a few hours in between.

Precious memories - well done . Family time is so important. You mom will probably be exhausted for the week ahead but absolutely worth it. Love to you both

You are such a great daughter. Mum is so blessed to have you. Having cared for my husband for so long, I know it’s not easy. God bless you. 😊

I’m sure that wasn’t an easy decision to make Kim but well done for doing so.

Nothing can beat seeing someone face to face and I can just imagine the joy your mum would have felt seeing her boys and also joy for them too.

Lots of love Nanny857xx

Life is all about taking calculated risks and quality is far more important than quantity. I am sure it has done your Mum & her boys the world of good to be together properly. Lets hope there are many more times you can all get together. xxx

To use a phrase from my youth... RIGHT ON SISTER. We need to follow our Gut Instincts when caring for our loved ones as well as ourselves. At this stage noone knows mama more than you! Great Photo Kim. Sending hugs... Granni B

So very special. The right medicine, at the right time. The 'others' may come to regret having not made the right choice. Momma is probably suffering on the inside from the lack of love, one can only feel by a tight hug and warm embrace... I know I am.

Good for you all making a tough decision. Being together was probably the best medicine your mom needed. Cheers! To family time with your mom.

I love the contented look on all of their faces. That was a decision made with love, glad it worked out.

Kim, I’m pleased to hear that you took the plunge to allow close contact with your mum, it obviously meant a great deal to her and all other family members involved. Sometimes you have to take risks to enable the happiness and well-being of someone who has a life limiting disease, it’s the kindest action to take. I really feel for people who weren’t allowed to see their loved ones who were in homes during the pandemic it must have had a profound effect on that person and their loved ones, so sad. I always felt sleep was a blessing for Ben as I knew he wasn’t so aware of his suffering and I hope you feel the same as your dear mum’s condition deteriorates. Sending love. Kate
