Wanted to post something positive today, and can't think of a better reason. My youngest, Melissa AKA Missy, turns 21 today. My oldest, Katy is still 21; turns 22 on May 30. I love this time of year when they're the same age for 11 days.
She was a "Monday's child...fair of face..." but she was also a 'scheduled' birth. She loves to hear the story of how I felt driving across the High Bridge to the hospital in downtown St. Paul, repeating out loud "Today we're having a baby". Or, "I'm having another baby today". Having it scheduled was surreal.
During Katy's pregnancy, I experienced complications at 26 weeks and was put on bedrest. Slam, down, no work, no get up and pass go. Huge adjustment. The remaining weeks ticked by slowly til she was born 5-30-91. She weighed in at a whopping 5lbs., 1 oz. Teeny tiny. (I was 5-1/2 lbs., Missy was 5lbs, 11oz, so it's just the genes.)
After being on bedrest all those weeks, I stayed in the hospital only 27 hours. Literally, 27 hours. I couldn't wait to get up, go home w/o restrictions and be her Mom....
...however, when Missy was born less than a year later, it was a total reversal of attitude; told them to keep me every minute my insurance would allow
On another happy note regarding Melissa, she just came home from college this week, after returning from a year's break that was very hard on her and unsuccessful. However, this time, her lowest grade was a B, and she made the Dean's List! I am so very proud and inspired by my little Lovely!
