I picked up knitting to abate my anxiety about mom’s condition about 7 years ago (when we still didn’t know fully what was going on). In the ensuing time I’ve knitted hats, and socks, scarves and blankets - for literally everyone in the family. This year is my first attempt to knit myself a sweater.
It is meditation for those who struggle with meditation - because there is a rhythm to the needle clicking and counting stitches.

My mother was always knitting something. She learned when she was 16 and knitted up to the day she died at 83. One year for her birthday is got her a Kaffe Fassett kit that was a very involved box pattern in multiple colors. She loved it.
I’ve only attempted to knit slippers when I was very young and I always ended up with one that could fit an elephant and the other one would be much too small. I have fond memories of trying though.
Ha ha! I have had many mishaps along the way myself! The first project I started looked like a PSA announcement for what would happen if spiders were on drugs while trying to spin their webs. Thank you for your generous compliment!
Hi Kevin, that's a great idea, love the sweater, my mum was a knitter too, she was never without her needles, always making something for family and friends, we New something wasn't right when she struggled to knit, she was getting tangled and couldn't follow the pattern, Mum tried to teach me and my brother when we were young, but like sewbears, I always had different sizes, would start off with 20 stitches then loose a few on the way, we tried. It's a lovely idea keep on going Julie x
Lovely sweater, I took up knitting when Steve was in hospital but I only managed little squares for the premature baby unit, I used to get Steve to tick off how many rows I had done which he enjoyed but made me realise how bad his ability to hold and operate a pen had become. However he managed to sign our wedding certificate which is the last think he ever wrote. Keep knitting your work is lovely
Love Sarahxxx
Lovely jumper! You are very clever.
My mum has always knitted and at the age of 90 she is still knitting.
She says she can't just sit and watch TV without knitting as well, bless her.
